Andrew Cuomo Wants To Be Mayor Of New York City

Yes, that’s right. Andrew Cuomo is back in the game. This time he’s thrown his hat into the ring to be the next Mayor of New York City.

Cuomo, who served three terms as New York governor before leaving office under that cloud of controversy, announced in a taped video address released Saturday that he is entering the race. He listed several issues he plans to tackle as mayor: homelessness, housing, crime, policing and mental health. He highlighted his long experience in government and referenced his leadership during covid.

“We showed that government can actually work and get things done,” he said. “Big, hard important things.” He referenced past mistakes and said he had learned from them. About the president, he said: “I will work with anyone who wants to work for the benefit of New York. I hope President Trump remembers his hometown and works with us to make it better. But make no mistake, I will stand up and fight for New York. I have done it before and will do it again.”

Here’s the 17 minute video announcement.

It’s pretty arrogant of him to claim that the leadership lessons he’s learned will benefit the citizens of New York City. Especially given that he was a major proponent of the bail reform crap that has led to major criminals being let back onto the streets time and again, only for them to commit more crimes. That’s some terrific leadership right there.

New York has major budget and tax issues. Andrew Cuomo loves taxes and fees. Does anyone really think that’s going to change if he’s mayor?

What about those lessons of leadership that involved lawsuits being filed against him for sexual harassment, which led to his resignation?

But lets get into the biggest leadership lesson of all. His abysmal track record on Covid, which he is hoping we’ll all forget about.

Spoiler: No we won’t forget. Neither will the families of loved ones who died in nursing homes due to his Covid policies.

“Over 15,000 seniors dead in nursing homes—livelihoods shattered—families shattered—businesses shattered—communities shattered—dreams shattered—all because of your reckless, selfish, and heartless decisions that put your own agenda and ambitions above the lives of those you were supposed to protect,” the searing letter said.

The missive was prepared by Vivian Zayas and her sister, Alexa Rivera, Tracy Alvino and Grace Colucci — all of whom had loved ones who died from the coronavirus after being discharged to nursing homes or while being treated there.

“It’s up to us grieving families to make sure the voters of New York never forget how your gross negligence cost over 15,000 lives,” the group’s leaders wrote.

FDNY Battalion Chief Sean Newman is equally blunt. His parents, Dolores and Mickey were in two separate nursing homes in March 2020. They died, alone without ANY family with them within 2 1/2 weeks of each other. Sean, and his wife Janice Dean, want people to remember what Cuomo did.

At the time, we had no idea that our former governor had issued a directive on March 25, 2020 to flood New York’s senior facilities with over 9,000 Covid patients — a decision that we believe could have killed my parents.

We are not angry simply because an order was issued doing a chaotic and confusing time.

We are angry for the reasons the March 25 order was sent out, which was designed to be in the best interests of healthcare executives and not in the best interest of an aging population with compromised immune systems.

Keep in mind, during Cuomo’s “leadership” he was doing daily briefings full of props and yuck it up schtick in order to keep the state locked down.

And, while the state was locked down, there was a mad scramble by Cuomo et al, to hide the real numbers of Covid patients in actual hospitals.

Furthermore, TO THIS DAY, Andrew Cuomo has yet to provide an answer as to why the USS Comfort, a gigantic hospital ship, and the Javits Center stayed EMPTY while they were shuttling Covid patients into unprepared nursing homes.

There are a great many people who are not fans of Andrew throwing his hat into the ring.

While others are remembering that, while he was issuing Covid mandates and sending patients into nursing homes, he was writing a book.

And then received an Emmy for his Covid schtick.

Cuomo claims that he’s getting into the race because of “lack of intelligent action by many of our political leaders.”

Has he looked in the mirror lately?? His campaign announcement leaves out taking any responsibility for his decisions during Covid.

The man’s arrogance knows no bounds. New York, and the city itself, were hugely impacted by Cuomo’s Covid policies. Not only with the nursing homes, but with businesses and with the schools. We are only just now finding out the extent of the learning loss from the lockdowns.

If I were the citizens of New York City, who lived under his Covid rule, I’d remind him of that every single day of his campaign.

Who will endorse him? Does he need endorsements?

No Dem has EVER taken responsibility for their actions during covid, nor will they. It was all a test run, on many levels. Not rhe least of which have was to see how far the population would allow the govt to move towards dictatorship.. sadly, the answer is NOT good for our Republic..

He’s pulling the same scam that California’s Governor Moonbeam (aka Jerry Brown) did when he had been termed out of the governor’s mansion. Which is a tougher job – being mayor of Oakland or of New York City?

I will Brown some credit – he did less damage as a mayor than he did as governor. I think that is a good argument for smaller, limited government.
