I always believed that history would be kinder to George W. Bush than the polls indicated when he left office in 2008. It only took a little over 8 years for the Left to suddenly become nostalgic for those good ol’ days of the Bush Administration. And it’s all because of how much they loathe President Trump.
In painting the horrific devastation of Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria as “Trump’s Katrina,” it suddenly made leftists remember Bush… and just as suddenly, he wasn’t so terrible anymore.
President Trump got back on Twitter this morning, and it wasn’t pretty.
The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.

…Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
…want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.

The military and first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an amazing job. Puerto Rico was totally destroyed.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
Later, he did offer some praise of certain Puerto Rico officials.
The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, is a great guy and leader who is really working hard. Thank you Ricky!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
Congresswoman Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon of Puerto Rico has been wonderful to deal with and a great representative of the people. Thank you!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
We must all be united in offering assistance to everyone suffering in Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the wake of this terrible disaster.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
But, damage done. And then the media began to wax poetically about how much they missed George W. Bush.
Can you even IMAGINE if during Katrina GWB called New Orleans lazy & made it about his image? (I realize no bc GWB would've never done that)

Imagine if, during Katrina, W. Bush had talked about Louisiana's fiscal issues. We've lowered our bar so far & still Trump can't clear it. https://t.co/nuEkhVWHgq

Now Bush is getting credit for being a fundamentally decent human being.
#PuertoRico isn’t Trump’s Katrina.
Bush cared, but was inept.
Trump just doesn’t give a fuck about brown people. Period.
— Red (@Redpainter1) September 30, 2017
Trump willfully ignored PR and seemed oblivious to the suffering of fellow Americans. How has Trump made life easier for anyone but the rich

And it goes on and on and on.
The left’s amnesia is truly complete. Do they seriously not remember “Chimpy McBushitler“?
Do they not remember Kayne West?
Yes, George W. Bush is a good and decent man. The left spent 8 years calling him “Hitler” and accusing him of “hating black people,” and when it wasn’t Bush, it was McCain. Then it was Romney. And this is how we ended up with Donald Trump. The left cried wolf too many times. The insult that carried terrible weight 8 years ago has been reduced to a petty taunt, and now the left decides that the man they once called “Bushitler” wasn’t so bad after all.
Same thing happened with Reagan when they were smearing GWB. I’m sure that whenever they want to stir up their hate for the next Republican president, they’ll be pretending they never hated Trump.

BTW, the main thing I remember about Katrina, politically speaking, was what a blithering incompetent Ray Nagin turned out to be. Who else remembers that picture of all the flooded busses that could have evacuated New Orleans?

“President Trump got back on Twitter this morning, and it wasn’t pretty.”
Oh dear! That nasty awful Trump told the truth about Democrats and their serfs! Pearls must be clutched.
Americans don’t care what Democrats think about us any more.
W. not punching back during the Katrina aftermath was a major reason why the media and democrats (but I repeat myself) got their narrative to stick.
By not aggressively countering it, he allowed his opponents to set the narrative in ways self-serving and at odds with reality.
Good for Trump.
Despite it giving Leftists and Fredocons the vapors, indignant denunciation was the perfect response.
They liked Bush because he didn’t fight back.
For all Leftists, history started this morning.
