Here at Victory Girls, we’ve monitored the catastrophic Hurricane Harvey since it made landfall last week. The images coming from Houston alone are heartbreaking, but are also peppered with images of bravery and selflessness in the face of an extremely dire situation:

As you can see, our fellow Americans are in need, and Louisiana is about to be smacked as well. Plus FEMA is reporting that its response to Harvey is “quickly drawing down” reserves in its disaster fund. So here are six ways you can help the victims of Harvey:

VOLUNTEER
The effects of this devastating hurricane, and now the succeeding tropical storm, will be felt for the foreseeable future, and armies of volunteers will be needed. Here are links to two agencies, including Samaritan’s Purse, that can help you sign up to volunteer:

Also, check with your local churches and charities. They may have projects set[ting] up to help.
And, think long term. There will be houses to be rebuilt and other ongoing needs months from now, probably into next year. Organize something now (or call to find out what others are organizing) to help then.
Jodi says: You bet! And yes, it’s going to be years before they have some semblance of “normal” again. They’re going to needs lots of help.
