There has been a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. The college is in a very rural area, on the Umpqua River, and is located about 20 miles out of Roseburg city limits. We know absolutely nothing about the shooter (the shooter is reported to be in custody, but whether he is alive or dead is in question) as of yet, we do not have any firm numbers on the dead or wounded (reports place the number of dead at a minimum of 7, with some reports as high as 15, with a minimum of 6 critical patients), and we don’t know what kind of weapon was used (other than “gun”) or what the shooter’s motives were.
But is that going to stop the White House? Heck no!
Passing tougher laws to help prevent gun violence remains a high priority for President Obama, the White House said Thursday after reports of a mass shooting resulting in multiple casualties.
“The issue of sensible steps that can be taken to protect our communities from gun violence continues to be a top priority of this administration,” press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
Earnest said the “vast majority of Americans” support stricter gun laws, including closing the so-called gun-show loophole. But he said Obama is “realistic” about the dim prospects of congressional action on gun control.
“The president has been quite candid about how this is and has been a source of frustration for him,” he said.
Excuse me? EXCUSE ME????
Let’s list off the things that we know so far about the shooter and how he got a gun. Oh, that’s right – as of 3 pm on Thursday, when Josh Earnest decided to make comments, we KNOW NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. Not name, background, potential criminal record, type of gun – we don’t even know if the shooter is alive or dead! But never let a crisis go to waste, the administration just HAS to get its line on gun control out there as fast as possible!
The bodies haven’t even been removed from the crime scene yet, and the White House is already using their deaths to make political hay.
There aren’t words enough to describe how ghoulish and despicable this is. At least not ones that I can say in front of my kids.

Thank God we’re not a democracy, then, right, Josh Earnest? Oh, that’s right, you don’t understand the difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic. Go back to your desk, pull up Google, and educate your ignorant self.
Xavier says: The only thing that will stop mass shootings is eliminating Gun Free Zones, especially schools. But the first time a police officer or armed student neutralized a shooter, it would prove gun control and Gun Free Zones were the wrong idea.
Think about that. Progressives would rather children be killed than lose their war against the Second Amendment.

bob Hall says: Far too many people have died unnecessarily because of “gun-free zones”. If people had been allowed to carry self-defense weapons in all of these instances, many lives would still be here today. The hard truth is, people who establish and support “gun-free zones” are just as responsible for the deaths of those people killed, as are the killers. If we can hold Chevrolet criminally liable for deaths related to an ignition recall, then officials of local municipalities, business owners, school districts, and others that fight so hard for these “gun-free zones”, should also be held liable for deaths that occur in their designated “gun-free zones”. Please keep the families who lost loved ones and all the injured in the terrorist shooting at Umpqua Community College, Oregon, in your thoughts and prayers.
