I can’t say I’m surprised. It’s not only Lisa Cook, Letitia James, and Adam Schiff who are facing major mortgage fraud allegations. Now we get to add Eric Swalwell to the mix.

Back in 2020, he decided to plunk a couple million dollars down on a nice home in Washington D.C. Variety gushed over the purchase. 

Built in the 1920s but extensively reimagined over the past year by an investor owner, the four-story Victorian bungalow contains two independent residences with a total of six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in just over 3,000 very contemporary square feet.

Most original architectural details were stripped out and replaced with clean-lined and decidedly modern fittings and finishes that include a stainless steel fireplace-surround inserted into a delicately veined white marble chimney breast in the parlor-floor living room. Gleaming, medium-brown hardwood floors extend into the dining area as well as the all-white, open-plan kitchen. There are three bedrooms and three renovated bathrooms on the second floor, one of them en suite and suitable as a master bedroom, while a fourth bedroom and bathroom tucked up into the finished attic are filled with natural light via several large skylights.

Awww. That sounds lovely doesn’t it? Especially given part of the home can be a rental property. For Fang Fang maybe? Even the Robb Report had a story on it, with a gallery of photos. Both of which are mysteriously missing from their website. Gee, I wonder why?

Well, now there seems to be a problem. 

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) was hit with a federal criminal referral for alleged mortgage and tax fraud related to his purchase of a $1.2 million home in Washington, DC, that he claimed as a primary residence, The Post has confirmed.

Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte in a Wednesday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi requested an investigation of Swalwell based on allegedly false and misleading statements he made about the purchase, NBC News first reported.

The California Democrat was able to secure millions of dollars’ worth of loans and refinancing based on the primary residence declaration in DC, a source familiar with the referral said.

Of course, Eric got all huffy about it. 

At least we were safe from farts on live tv. 

Meanwhile, he has some stellar backup swooping in to defend him from OrangeManBad.

Dude, I really don’t think having Adam Schiff going to bat for you given his own mortgage fraud issues is quite the win you think it is. 

Here’s another issue that could plague Swalwell and his swanky D.C. home. Where IS his primary residence? ALL the paperwork says D.C. 

Disgraced Rep. Eric Swalwell has been referred to the DOJ for potential CRIMINAL CHARGES after evidence of mortgage fraud was found by FHFA Chair Bill @Pulte, per NBC

Swalwell not only committed mortgage fraud — he deemed himself INELIGIBLE to be a member of Congress, as he declared his DC residence his primary residence.

No public record searches show a home owned or leased by Swalwell in California.

Members of Congress are required under Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution to be “inhabitants” of the state they represent at the time of their election

Swalwell was not and IS not an inhabitant of California, it seems.

So, if public record searches in CA didn’t turn up an abode under Swalwell’s name, an LLC he’s attached to, or anything under his wife’s name…that does seem quite problematic now doesn’t it?

Last I checked, Eric is conspicuously silent on that front. 

Eric Swalwell has spent the last ten years insisting that NO ONE is above the law and if you commit fraud, indictments will follow and justice must be served. 

This really is fun to watch.
