Once again, the media has learned NOTHING. This time it’s NBC News with their pitiful attempt to Kavanaugh Pete Hegseth. This is what they ran with.

Senators received an affidavit Tuesday from the former sister-in-law of defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth in which she says his behavior caused his second wife to fear for her safety. The receipt of the affidavit comes after Senate Armed Services Committee staffers were in contact with Hegseth’s former sister-in-law for several days.  

The former sister-in-law, Danielle Hegseth, submitted the affidavit in response to a Jan. 18 letter from Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., seeking “a statement attesting to your personal knowledge about Mr. Hegseth’s fitness to occupy this important position.”

And then ran their nightly report. 

So serious and concerning! These last minute accusations will tank Pete Hegseth’s Secretary of Defense nomination for sure! And, of course, Democrats such as Tim Kaine are on board with that notion. 

Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., who aggressively question Hegseth at the hearing, said Danielle Hegseth’s affidavit refuted that argument.

“So the claim that everything that’s being alleged is an anonymous smear was false when it was stated last week, and it’s even more false today,” Kaine said. “I think the issues that are raised are A, behavior, B, honesty with the committee in both his oral testimony and in his response to [written questions for the record] and, C, honesty with the Trump transition team that was vetting him to be secretary of defense.”

C’mon Virginia, did you REALLY have to elect that putz? 

The media took NBC’s report and ran with it. All in a gleeful attempt to Kavanaugh Pete Hegseth. The New York Times:

In her affidavit, Danielle Hegseth said she had spoken with the F.B.I. about Mr. Hegseth and had come forward to Congress in the hopes that her account would persuade enough Republicans to block him. She said she was submitting her account at the request of Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee.

“I have been assured that making this public statement will ensure that certain senators who are still on the fence will vote against Hegseth’s confirmation,” she wrote.

Danielle Hegseth, who was formerly married to Pete Hegseth’s brother, claimed in an affidavit that the former Fox News host made his ex-wife fear for her personal safety.

Only one Democrat — Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) — has been briefed about the background check.

“As I have said for months, the reports of Mr. Hegseth’s history of alleged sexual assault, alcohol abuse, and public misconduct necessitate an exhaustive background investigation. I have been concerned that the background check process has been inadequate, and this sworn affidavit confirms that fact,” Reed said in a statement on Tuesday.

He’s DONE! The vote on Thursday will most certainly fail. RIGHT? Except, when you take a closer look at what the media is burying in this store, it all starts falling apart. 

A. If there had been documented physical abuse during the divorce proceedings, how come the court granted JOINT CUSTODY to the parents? 

In a 2021 order, dealing with the appointment of a parenting coordinator, a Minnesota family court judge said that neither Pete nor Samantha Hegseth claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse. The judge also said that there was no determination by the court that there was probable cause to believe that one parent “has been physically abused or threatened with physical abuse by the other parent.”

B. Look at the source for this “story.” 

NBC News reports that all of this came from Danielle Hegseth. Well folks, she happens to be the ex-wife of Pete Hegseth’s brother. Not only that, but that particular divorce was evidently acrimonious and she’s on record as a rabid Never Trumper. 

NBC News highlights that Danielle was interviewed by the FBI in December. Purportedly she made those same accusations during that interview. Which makes one wonder why it wasn’t reported then. Oh gee, because the accusations are false and the FBI agent(s) were discerning enough to realize the woman has a serious ax to grind against the whole family? 

It’s the similar ax that the media has against Trump and anyone in his orbit. They tried the Nazi salute against Elon Musk and were laughed out of the room. Now it’s Pete Hegseth using a disgruntled ex sister-in-law. Memo to Danielle, channeling Christine Blasey Ford is not the win you think it is. 

Here’s the kicker to this. Samantha, Pete’s ex-wife was asked for a response. 

NBC to Pete’s 2nd wife: Someone told us Pete abused you

Wife: I wasn’t abused

NBC: Ok well we’re gonna write an article with these claims to smear Pete

Wife: Your info is inaccurate

NBC: Ok well we’re gonna post the article anyway

In other words, NBC News was bluntly told by Samantha herself that the entire report was a lie, yet they ran with it anyway. Furthermore, she specifically informs them that NO ONE, not even Danielle has been authorized to speak on her behalf. Yet again, they ran with it anyway. 

The Press: “Misinformation is a danger to democracy.”

Also the Press: “We are going to publish allegations that Pete Hegseth beat his ex-wife even though she told us they are completely false.”

It all depends upon what your definition of “misinformation” is. NBC News tried to Kavanaugh Pete Hegseth by dragging his ex-wife through the mud based upon scurrilous claims by a disgruntled ex sister-in-law, and failed.
