On the cusp of her close re-election battle with challenger Tudor Dixon, MI Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appeared on a TV news station from Detroit. She thought she was in friendly territory and would be able to successfully promote herself. But the TV host asked her an uncomfortable question, and suddenly, suddenly! her audio malfunctioned. And if you believe that her earpiece just happened to fail, then may I interest you in a bridge?
FOX 2 Detroit anchor Josh Landon had asked the Democrat governor — who was appearing remotely — the following question:
“Governor, when it comes to your handling of the pandemic, we all know the critics over the past few years, do you have any regrets and…?”
That’s when Whitmer’s audio just happened to fail. She grabbed at her earpiece, saying “I’m sorry,” while an off-camera voice of someone with the governor said, “Oh, s—, I think we lost…”
Suuure, you lost the signal. And bears don’t … well, you know.
Landon continued to press her: Go ahead Governor, he said, whereupon Whitmer went into the Dumb Little Woman act:
“Did I do that when I touched the ear thing? It started to fall out.”
The “ear thing?” Don’t piss on our feet and tell us it’s raining, m’kay?
In the Detroit studio, Landon continued:
“Governor, can you hear me? Governor Whitmer?”
“Alright, we’ll check back in with the governor maybe a little bit later on this morning.”
Here’s how it all happened. Afterwards Whitmer’s Republican opponent Tudor Dixon mocked her on Twitter.
On Monday, our guest writer Paladin dubbed NY Gov. Kathy Hochul to be “Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS.” I would add that Gretchen Whitmer is Hochul’s doppelgänger for her intense need to control the people of Michigan through Covid restrictions.
You vill stop buying nonessential items. You vill stop sending your kinder to school, und you vill not go to church! Ve haff vays to make you obey!

Whitmer relished throwing out executive orders, destroying normal life in Michigan. She banned large gatherings, including worship services — that is, until churches sued and Whitmer had to draw back her horns.
Even though she lied in saying she closed down schools for only three months, Whitmer continued to encourage school closures after her shutdown orders expired. Tudor Dixon called her out on this falsehood during a debate:
“We even had schools that were closed this year. This is shocking to me that [Whitmer] thinks schools were only closed for three months—or maybe she thinks she can convince you that schools were only closed for three months. But you know better, because your students are the ones that are desperately behind.”
And then there were the outrageous edicts that Whitmer issued for stores to stop selling “non-essential” items.
Big box stores such as Costco, Walmart, and Target remained open during Whitmer’s Covid orders. But she created an absurd list of items that customers could not purchase, such as carpet, paint, furniture, or garden supplies.
I didn't believe this at first, but Whitmer's order does indeed require stores to shut down their gardening and planting sections. https://t.co/aV7AOigtQp

But Michiganders could still buy state lottery tickets. Go figure.
Meanwhile, Gretchen Whitmer didn’t even follow her own Covid rules. In 2021 she gathered with too many friends at a bar in East Lansing, MI, when gathering and mask restrictions were still in place. In 2020, her husband flouted Covid restrictions on holiday travel by taking his boat out on Lake Michigan to their vacation property.
Whitmer’s office even burned documents in 2021 relating to alleged Covid violations made by the City of Port Huron — and the city pushed back.
Clearly, Gretchen Whitmer doesn’t want to acknowledge that she has ruined Michigan businesses, families, and society as well as the education of its children. Nor is she about to apologize for these disasters, either.
Attorney Michael P. Senger, who has documented the travesty of Covid lockdowns, writes at his Substack site “The New Normal:”
“Thus far, we have yet to see anything remotely resembling regret from any leader on the left, but this is what a decent, Truman-era Democrat might say in these circumstances:”
“’The lockdowns of 2020 were a terrible mistake. While they were outside my field, it was my duty to properly vet the credibility of the advice that was coming from health officials and to end the mandates as soon as it was clear they weren’t working. In that role, I failed, and you all have my humblest apologies.'”
But don’t expect that from Gretchen Whitmer. Instead you’ll get denial, gaslighting, and audio malfunctions which conveniently happen when she doesn’t like being pressed about her Covid restrictions.
