Yikes: According to a friend, there is a hit piece on Ron DeSantis in the Financial Times. But I just read it and it reads more like a pro-DeSantis ad campaign to me. Most of it anyway.
The media is so desperate right now. So here’s what happened. The Financial Times wrote a lengthy piece on Ron DeSantis. But then MSN came along and cherry-picked one silly line and then proceeded to write a 7 (SEVEN) paragraph online article about that said sentence. I’ve got to hand it to the columnist though, a SEVEN paragraph article about nothing? I hate to say it but that’s impressive.
The sentence – are you sitting down? The thing they reached for today is a sentence out of a book from a fellow Yale graduate.
…..according to a friend, would tell dates he (DeSantis) liked Thai food, but pronounced it ‘thigh.’ If they corrected him, Finch wrote, he would find an excuse to leave. ‘He didn’t want a girlfriend who corrected him.’” – MSN article but from a book by Charles Finch.
I added in (DeSantis).
But then, Twitter comes along to ditto the ridiculousness of it all. I don’t know Noam Blum but he has a blue checkmark next to his name so he must be important and he mocks the desperation.
The original and more serious Tweet that started this is linked at the bottom.
Yikes: "According to a friend, Ron DeSantis used to always leave the supermarket shopping cart next to his car and never return it to the other carts."

The comments in that Twitter thread above are just as clever as the Tweet itself. I hope it starts trending.
Yikes: ‘According to a friend, Ron DeSantis had an elbow on the table at dinner one time and slurped his soup. That’s my contribution.
In his latest speech, Governor DeSantis doesn’t even mention Charlie Crist and I am sure he will not be addressing this latest punch-drunk pursuit of smear scheme either. Oh how I would love to be there at a presser when some youngster tries to ask Ron DeSantis about “thigh food.”
Also in the Financial Times article, the author was able to lump together the words beer, the Bushes, and Brett Kavanaugh all into one paragraph. Like that proves something? I love a good innuendo but come on man.
It’s not the first time liberals tried to hate on DeSantis with a huge failure. It won’t be the last either.
Joshua Chaffin wrote the article in the Financial Times. And Alec MacGillis with the original “Yikes” tweet.
UPDATE: Well, well, well, what do we have here? Seems we were right to bring out the clowns in on this one. Of course we were right. Fox News published an article today (Oct 24th) calling out the laughable lick at Ron DeSantis. But even after all the mockery, the original Yikesters (Alec MacGillis) stood by his Tweet by stating, “It’s a small but striking detail.”
Yeah. Okay. :: eyeroll ::

The media is more desperate than a 15 year old boy trying to feel up his girlfriend for the first time. I’d feel sorry for them but that’s a waste of time.
I have to admit that it would be a character flaw, if true.
Mind you, “if true” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. (At least as much as “according to friends” in the original claim.)
Has anyone else come out to corroborate this claim?
Also, if I were a girl on a date with him, I might have responded “I like thighs, too” with a little eyebrow waggle. Then wait for his reaction. 🙂
IDK I would think that it would be sometimes impolite to correct a date, esp in a group or public setting. Maybe a measure of manners? And who cares if he mispronounces an ethic food group. The same president who thought we had 57 states said “corpseman” and no one in the press batted an eye –
It is telling that this is the best Democrat media can do to smear the man.
I disagree. I think they batted their eyes at 0bama a lot.
The greatest fear of feminists is that somewhere a man is wrong, and there’s no woman around to correct him.
If a man speaks in the forest, and there’s no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
Correction: The greatest fear of a feminist is that somewhere there is a man who is right and no woman around to argue with him about how he is wrong.
I had a progressive friend in college who would play Gil Scott-Heron’s “Whitey on the Moon” to his dates and if they didn’t dig it he would dump them. BUT THAT’S (D)IFFERENT!
“(DeSantis) liked Thai food, but pronounced it ‘thigh.’ If they corrected him, Finch wrote, he would find an excuse to leave….”
I presume that this horrible character flaw became apparent in… college? Yale? Harvard Law, perhaps? And yet nobody even thought to put the most logical cast on this from a young, horny college guy POV: THIGH food. And if she didn’t get (or at least laugh at) the joke, she was probably not his type.
Seriously, folks, are we so indoctrinated already that nobody thought of sexual innuendo as the most logical explanation?
My thoughts exactly. He demonstrated a gift of sorting thru the deadwood at an early age.
Did you not read the other comments? 😉
Seriously, though, I think the statement is worded as if he had confessed this tactic to someone. So the assumption is that it isn’t allowing for a possibility of misinterpretation.
But you’re right.
If this is your first exposure to NeonTaster (Noah Blum) follow him and strap in, he is one of the better follows on the twitter machine.
Noam Blum is John Podhoretz’s nephew. He used to post anonymously on Twitter until Michael Tracy doxxed him. Back when he was anonymous, someone started a rumor that became a running joke that he was Ben Shapiro’s dad (as I recall, Shapiro took the joke well but Blum did not).
