Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) plans on busting the filibuster. Yet in a rare moment of playing offense instead of defense in politics, Senate Republicans came out Monday with a stern warning to Chuck.
Here is an absolutely delicious political idea.
“Senate Republicans are threatening they will attempt a takeover of the Senate agenda by forcing votes on issues ranging from the Keystone XL pipeline to abortion rules to a U.S-Mexico border wall if Democrats weaken the filibuster.”
Hold that interesting thought. Let’s take a glance at the pearl-clutching drama Congressional Democrats are staging for this week.
Democrats have saber-rattled before about abolishing the filibuster when they don’t get their way. So what is Chuck pissed off about now?
What he’s angry about is HR1 didn’t pass last year. I wrote about this almost a year ago. HR1 was the Democrats’ attempt to legalize the cheating they got away with in 2020. Chuck’s also angry he’s about to lose control of the Senate in November and with it, his only chance to take another shot at cheating.
SCHUMER: ”I believe the Senate needs to be restored to its rightful status as the world’s greatest deliberative body…If Republicans continue to hijack the rules of the chamber to protect us from protecting our democracy.” https://t.co/NcMnvrnzxQ

As you listen to his whining from last week, remember Democrat word salad terms. When Democrats say “democracy” they mean “socialism”. When Democrats say “voting rights” they mean “easy cheating.” When they say “voter suppression” they mean “election integrity”.
While Schumer is amping up for his big historical vote to bust the filibuster before Martin Luther King Jr day, Biden is heading to Georgia Tuesday to rattle sabers as well.
“President Biden plans to deliver a hard-hitting speech on voting rights in Atlanta on Tuesday, saying the issue is fundamental to America, calling for passage of sweeping legislation and denouncing in detail the impact of voting restrictions in states like Georgia….But in pivoting so fully to voting rights from his recent efforts to pass a major social spending bill, Biden risks opening the new year with a second legislative setback, given the daunting obstacles facing any voting rights package in Congress — including the near-unified opposition of Republicans and the reluctance of some Democrats to ease filibuster rules.”
To describe the speech Joe will make as “hard-hitting” indicates the writer of this piece hasn’t seen Joe at a podium recently. He might hit his head hard on the microphone, but the speech will be the white noise Democrat talking points desperately hoping to save the Democrat Senate majority that is slowly slipping away as time inches closer to November.
“Easing filibuster rules” is also Democrat-speak for “abolishing the filibuster”. Tuck that away as Schumer continues his blathering this week.
The Republicans had a little ooda-loop of their own in response to Schumer. You know all those truly bi-partisan bills Democrats stopped in the Senate because the required 60 votes for them to be heard were soundly stopped by the Democrats? They would be heard and there are enough sound-minded Democrats who would easily cross the aisle.
Think of the pipelines and borders! No more trillion dollar “stimulus” inflation-inducing bills. If Republicans are serious about using the abolished filibuster to their advantage, dream a little. I’m not a fool either; I’ll believe it when I see it.
“Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) said Republicans have a list of bills that Schumer would not be keen on considering that could pass the chamber with the support of the entire GOP conference and one or two moderate Democrats such as Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) or Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.).”
Oh it gets better.
“While the bills would still need 60 votes to advance to final passage, lowering the threshold to begin debate could open up vulnerable Democrats such as Sens. Raphael Warnock (Ga.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.) and Maggie Hassan (N.H.) to a slew of tough votes.”.
Now let that sink in for a minute. Chuck is so hell-bent on busting the filibuster to pass legislation making it easier to cheat in voting, and he’s willing to face the real possibility of losing three more seats.
Twitter pundits stated the obvious succinctly.
Obvious power grab to stay in power.

Democrat leadership inside the beltway have two realities to face. One, bust the filibuster (assuming they have the votes to accomplish this feat) and cheat like crazy in November to keep the Senate. The Republicans have promised they will pass legislation that will get through the Senate chamber and pass the House. Yes, we know Biden won’t sign it, but that’s a lot of terrible votes you have to explain to constituents who have inserted into our daily vernacular “Let’s Go Biden”. You ready to take that gamble?

How long has Schumer been clinging to the government teat? He has enriched himself at our expense. Will he ever feel he has “enough” ?? I doubt it….Sad, so sad!
