In the midst of the Syria news and SecDef Mattis resignation, the funding bill to keep the government open got lost for a bit. Until the House passed the bill that, this time, included $5 billion in funding for the border wall. The bill was then sent to the Senate. As of this writing, one thing is for sure. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi want this bill to fail and the government to shut down because Trump!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who wanted to break things after watching that grandstanding sanctimonious blather.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m seriously not a fan of the boneheaded moves by Trump in the last couple of days. He’s put cart before horse in such a way that there is no way to unring the bell. The Trump Administration will have some mad scrambling to do to reassure our allies and those we’ve aligned with strategically that all is not lost regarding Russia/China/Middle East and more.
That said, I do applaud Trump for deciding to stand firm and hold out for funding for the border wall and most importantly for border security.
Keep in mind, the House voted FOR the bill.
The House has voted 217-185 to pass a stop-gap spending bill until Feb 8 including $5.7b for the border wall

Yet that isn’t stopping the Democrats and media (one and the same usually) from doing an insane happy dance and hoping that the government will be shut down so they can point the finger at Trump.
CNN's Jim @Acosta: "It's beginning to look a lot like a shutdown as President Trump all but pulled the rug out from under his fellow Republicans who thought they had a deal to keep the government open" https://t.co/OKV2XRkkRN pic.twitter.com/d4NRaxtxgc

The House Republicans got crushed in the midterms for not standing up to @realDonaldTrump & for hating on immigrants. It's a fitting legacy to the failed leadership of @SpeakerRyan-who lost the majority-that one of his final acts is to enable the #TrumpShutdown over a stupid wall https://t.co/m9mZMLGh8s

Hey Jimmy, it was the Republicans who weren’t listening to their constituents. You missed that part. As for Tedster, there is no hate regarding immigrants. What there IS is practical applications of the law regarding ILLEGAL immigrants.
“I’ve made my position very clear: Any measure that funds the government must include border security,” the president said at a signing ceremony for the farm bill.
Trump said his push for a border wall “is not merely my campaign promise,” but is also “the promise every lawmaker made.”
“It is the solemn promise to protect and defend the United States of America and it is our sacred obligation,” he said. “We have no choice.”
Trump finished with saying that we need to put safety first. He’s correct. We need to put our national security first above all. Just look at what is happening in Europe. There are countries who are caving to the special interests, which are leading to lives being put in danger and people being killed. There are countries who’ve begun to realize that open borders are such a danger that they are shutting down and saying NO to unchecked immigration.
So how does the media respond? Highlighting the Republican response.
Republican Sen. Susan Collins almost dropped her handbag Thursday as she gestured disbelief at word, delivered to her by reporters in the Capitol, that President Donald Trump would not sign the budget extension to keep government funded until February unless border wall money was added.
“Did he just say that?” she asked as she left a Republican lunch. “Ugh, are you ruining my life?”
Collins was already headed to the airport to return home to Maine and wait for the drama to play out, when word came, via House Speaker Paul Ryan, who had met with Trump, that a government shutdown now seemed more likely.
“Boy, we can’t have government shut down. It’s never good,” she said. “How many times do we have to learn that?”
Oh BULLSHIT. You know what? Congress needs a reality check. You are there to DO YOUR DAMNED JOB.
Yet that hasn’t stopped Senator Mazie Hirono (she of the SHUT UP Kavanaugh fame) from trying to protect the Democrat brand.
However, I do have to ask the media one question… are there any Democrats whining because they didn’t get to go home early for Christmas? If there are, it’s a fair bet the media WON’T be reporting that!
Republicans AND Democrats saw the writing on the wall regarding this particular bill and the border spending. You should’ve listened to your constituents. Americans WANT the border secured. If you Congress critters don’t recognize that, you are in the wrong job and need to be fired forthwith
Border security IS national security. It’s a shame that the Democrats refuse to acknowledge that.
