No “A Christmas Carol” for You: School Cancels Production Because Tiny Tim Mentions God

Bah Humbug!

Local educators and administrators at a Pennsylvania school district have succeeded in playing the lead role of Scrooge this season. After a 40-year tradition, administrators of Hempfield School District announced that Centerville Elementary School will not put on its production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” for families and the community to enjoy.

Why, you ask? Because two unnamed parents complained about this line right here:

“God bless us, everyone”-Tiny Tim

The school district issued a statement regarding the decision:

We want to clarify that the decision to cancel the play was a building decision, based upon interactions between myself and the fifth grade teaching team. This decision was made based primarily on instructional opportunities for students. Producing and performing a play is not part of the written curriculum for fifth grade.

Over the years, preparations had evolved to take 15 to 20 hours of instructional (educational) time to produce this play. Given changes in state standards in recent years, we could not defend the commitment of this kind of instructional time to something not part of the fifth grade curriculum. The teachers agreed that they did not want our students to be put at a disadvantage relative to their peers from other schools in preparation for 6th grade; therefore, the play was cancelled. In addition to focusing on high quality instruction, our decision is rooted in the desire to be respectful of the many cultural and religious backgrounds represented by the students attending Centerville Elementary.

CES Principal, Tom Kramer also mentioned in this statement that “our decision is rooted in the desire to be respectful of the many cultural and religious backgrounds represented by the students attending Centerville Elementary”.

So, despite lengthy explanation that “it would take away from too much of the classroom instruction time”, the decision was “rooted” in being “respectful” to…well…the handful of people who complained about the production!

And for all of the anti-bullying rhetoric schools these days throw about! Take a stand against bullying, they say. Stand up for your beliefs, they say. Embrace diversity, they say. Be inclusive, they say. All of this applies apparently except when individuals from the politically correct spectrum come at you all butt-hurt and offended because you mentioned “God”. Well, then by all means…back down! Quite honestly, I am surprised these token parents did not come forward sooner because the title of the production included the word “Christmas“. They claim to embrace the “many cultural and religious backgrounds” of the community. Apparently, is you’re from the cultural and religious background that celebrates Christmas, you and your kids take a back seat this season. Why? Because according to Lib Logic, you are a Christian and what is wrong with America! How dare you utter “God” in a sentence and capitalize His name!

“I have always thought of Christmastime, when it has come round…as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.” -Charles Dickens

Kind, forgiving and charitable only goes one way with these types of people. It comes their way and does not need to be reciprocated. The self-proclaimed social justice warriors of “love and light” have open hearts to only those of their tribe. The rest of us? We sit on the Bully Bench at recess while they “fight” for what’s right in the world. Inclusion becomes division when they clearly view themselves as the superior race. One thing is for certain, boys and girls: you can always count on a joyless, uber-liberal to suck the ever-loving magic out of Christmas. It is no wonder that most of them are depressed this season. November’s election didn’t pan out as they expected it would and now, to add insult to injury, they have to deal with Christmas and…God and (gasp)…Christianity! Yep. Never does it dawn on these miserable people that they have no joy because they have no faith. Instead, they’re in so much pain that they want others to feel their pain and it’s gut-wrenching when self-important, elf-proclaimed, proud, “educated”, God-less have to deal with God! Productions like “A Christmas Carol” must be so triggering to them.

“For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child Himself.” –Charles Dickens

And because of this, what right have we to be dismal? What reason have we to be morose? Be light as a feather, happy as an angel and merry as a schoolboy and don’t let the politically-correct killjoys of this world ruin your Christmas. GOD BLESS you and yours and Merry Christmas to all!

We have moved into a post-Christian society. Celebrate the festivals and holidays (“holy days”) for their own sake. Plan on setting your celebrations apart from the non-Christians.

And, yes, ENJOY the festivals that celebrate our God. And, give glory to His name!
