I am a second-generation Native Californian. My mom was born and raised in Los Angeles. I was born in Long Beach and raised in San Diego (East of I-5) and I was a proud Californian for most of my life.  LA was never a dream destination for me and not even a 90210 income and lifestyle would make me move out there now. California in general and LA in particular are getting more and more stuck on stupid.  LA reacted to the election of Trump by earmarking other people’s money to defend illegal aliens?  Really illegal is legal now?  I love Michigan’s four seasons (even winter), cleaner air and water (yes even in Flint) and less chance of stupid stuff like this from the LA Times.

Los Angeles city and county leaders on Monday unveiled a $10-million fund to provide legal assistance for residents facing deportation, the region’s boldest move yet as it prepares for an expected crackdown on illegal immigration by Donald Trump.

Is this a Trumpertantrum?  Because the city leaders are mad that Trump won, Los Angeles is going to use public funds to defend the rights of illegal aliens? Because they have all kinds of extra funds in the city and county budget, right? Not exactly.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote Tuesday on allocating $1 million this budget year toward the fund, with a commitment to add $2 million more in the coming years, according to Supervisor Hilda Solis’ office.

Pennies from Heaven?

LA County and LA City are funding this how? Sales tax increase? Bond initiative? The city & county surely has a fund for this that will not impact essential services, right? Um no.

The Los Angeles City Council will vote on moving $2 million to the fund after it reconvenes in January. The city money will come from Los Angeles’ general fund, which pays for basic services like fire and police protection and street repairs.

Gee that’s going to work GREAT guys! Because who needs cops and firefighters and streets just take care of themselves, right? And the county will just find the money at the end of a rainbow in a pot full of gold? Brilliant idea. And of course, this is for the children.

Mayor Eric Garcetti said the fund would help the region’s “most vulnerable” immigrants, including undocumented minors, refugees and military families.

Refugees and children? Military Families (note there is ONE Air Force Base in LA County)? Note who is missing: Legal Immigrants. What does this group think?  Well,  Janice Hahn has legal immigrant families talking about this being a horrible idea. Are the only immigrants in Mayor Garcetti’s world illegal? Might want to listen to these folks:

Mayor Garcetti, you sir are an irredeemable moron. In the best left wing tradition of “doing something to look important” you are ignoring the fact that your city is broke. Your county is not doing so well and your state is a hot mess. But hey! Let’s earmark a bunch of money for defending lawbreakers and enabling them to break the law. I mean who need firefighters and police, right?
