Former President Barack Obama surfaced in Boston over the weekend. All because someone decided he needed a new prize. The 2017 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage award to be exact.

Yes, folks, you read the above correctly. Why was he eligible for this award? Well…

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation said Obama received the award for “expanding health security for millions of Americans, restoring diplomatic relations with Cuba and leading a landmark international accord to combat climate change.”

Well, golly gee! I’m impressed. Aren’t you? If you can handle it, here’s his entire speech.

During which he decided to insert himself into politics once again. Are you surprised? I’m not. He really, really can’t help himself. So, in case you couldn’t deal with watching/listening to his speech above, here’s the money quote. Obama wants all of Congress to courageously oppose the repeal of Obamacare.

Obama called on lawmakers to have the courage to “champion the vulnerable and the sick and the infirm.” He said he hopes they understand that “courage does not always mean doing what is politically expedient, but what they believe deep in their hearts is right.”
The former President also said there was a reason why health care reform had not been accomplished earlier: “It was hard.”

Needless to say, there was some interesting reaction over on Twitter.

Super duper inspiring!

So, while we are thinking about courage and bravery and perhaps even a smidgen of heroism, let’s take a look at some exceptional examples of Courage…Obama-style!

  • American journalist James Foley is horrifically beheaded by ISIS. Obama says stuff and then races off to the golf course. Ever so brave!
  • Draws a Gumby-style Red Line in the sand regarding Syria. Assad continues what he’s doing and Obama’s Red Line? Poof be gone! Oh gosh, what tenacity!
  • Terrorists bomb and kill hundreds in Paris and Obama sends John Kerry to give hugs and lead a sing-a-long with James Taylor to make everyone feel all better and stuff. How daring.
  • Osama Bin Laden was found? Let me dither around for 8 months or so before making up my mind. I’ll take the credit and oh so briefly mention that, you know, our SEAL teams were the guys who actually did all the hard work. Yeah, that’s the bravery ticket all right.
  • Boko Haram kidnaps hundreds of young girls and the only thing that Obama can think to do is send Michelle out to start a hashtag campaign? So gallant of you.
  • Race riots all over the place because criminals do bad things and also kill police officers? Let’s have the DOJ blame the police while I go have beer summits!
  • Multiple terrorist attacks here in the United States and it’s proven that Fort Hood, San Bernardino, Orlando, Cleveland and others were led by and inspired by ISIS. But Obama bravely insists – no terrorism here. Nothing to see. Move along. What backbone and grit you have!
  • Iran! They are such big meanies! We must deal with them and get them to, you know, stop all that worldwide terrorism stuff and stop building nukes or something. So, hey! Let’s be super brave and hand over Iranian “businessmen” who were engaged in terrorist activities and gift Iran with billions in pallets of cash. So fearless!
  • Cuba! Never mind that the citizens have been living under a dictatorship for decades, let’s play ball!
  • Climate change? Wearing Mom jeans while traipsing around on a glacier is the epitome of pluck.
  • Nothing to worry about regarding this healthcare bill named after me! If you like your plan, your doctors, your hospitals, your life, you’ll get to keep it! I swear!

Wow. So amazingly bold, I just can’t even…

Woohoo! Look at ME!!!!

There you have it, folks! The many heroic, brave, tenacious, bold, plucky actions of the most courageously timid President we’ve ever seen! I’m ever so impressed. Aren’t you?

BHO laments that he was not president for life and able to totally destroy Western Civilization. But give credit where credit is due. He made much progess on his goal in the 8 years allotted to him under that damned Constitution.

  • GWB says:

The Kennedy “Profiles in Courage” awards haven’t been relevant to real courage in … probably three decades? Maybe more? (We had to read part of the book at the Academy; none of those stories happened after the Vietnam War.)

Oh, and this must be said…

    Profiles in Courage

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

As has been famously quoted before in the political arena:

    You’re no Jack Kennedy.

(Although B.O. similarly did escape the slowly submerging vehicle of State as the country slowly sinks beneath the waves, losing oxygen to the ever-rising water level of Obamacare and a voracious, insatiable gummint-run-amok.)
