Those of you who thought the World Health Organization (WHO) was a reliable and objective source of information about CORVID-19 might want to think twice.
As China falsely brags about its coronavirus response, blames the United States for the spread of the disease, and sends out faulty protective and testing equipment to other nations under the guise of generosity and benevolence, it is silencing scientists and doctors who sounded an early alarm about the spread of the disease, delaying its response, and allowing millions of infected Wuhan residents to travel abroad, spreading the disease.
And even as China tries to play victim in a blatant attempt to shirk responsibility for the spread of the disease, there’s one organization that is helping Beijing spread its misinformation and providing credibility to its lies: the WHO.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reported a few days ago on an amazing coincidence (/sarcasm): the head of the WHO won his post with backing from China, and now, he’s more than happy to help ensure that China’s narrative about its failed response to COVID-19 gets credible backing.
The WHO echoed China’s false talking points about the potential for human-to-human infection during the early stages of the outbreak. “Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China,” the WHO tweeted on Jan. 14.
The very next day, America’s first documented coronavirus patient arrived back in the U.S. after traveling to Wuhan, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s timeline.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has been touting China’s failed response, spreading Chinese disinformation worldwide under the flag of an organization that is supposed to be set a world standard for credibility and scientific objectivity in protecting public health, and he’s been more than stubborn in praising China, even as information has been emerging about its failures to respond, its silencing of scientists, and its suppression of information.
Why is the head of WHO bending over for the repressive Chinese regime? As Michael Collins of the Council on Foreign Relations wrote last month, just follow the money.
…China’s WHO contributions have grown by 52% since 2014 to approximately $86 million. This is largely due to China’s increase in assessed contributions which are based on a country’s economic development and population. However, China has also slightly increased voluntary contributions from $8.7 million in 2014 to approximately $10.2 million in 2019. While this pales in comparison to the United States’ 2018-19 contribution of $893 million, China’s growing contributions come as its influence across the UN is rising just as U.S. leadership is declining.
[…]
China was also an important ally of Tedros in the WHO’s DG election in 2017. Months before the election, Tedros was invited to speak at Peking University where he called for stronger cooperation between China and the Global South on health issues. China’s support for Tedros paid off immediately. The day after his electoral victory, Tedros confirmed to Chinese state-media that he and the WHO will continue to support the “One China” principle, which recognizes the government in Beijing as the legitimate Chinese government.
That’s right, boys and girls. China has bought the WHO and installed its own little stooge as Director-General. And even though health officials in Taiwan warned the WHO as early as December about the fact that the virus could be passed from one human to another, the WHO ignored their warnings.
I wonder why…
No, I don’t. China has been blocking Taiwan’s membership in the WHO, and only allowed Taiwan to join the WHO’s decision-making body, the World Health Assembly, as an observer under the name Chinese Taipei from 2009-2016. Without membership in the WHO, Taiwan must rely on China’s health department for WHO’s announcements and health information, with delays as long as several weeks.
Contrast the WHO’s obsequious response in promoting Beijing’s propaganda during this crisis with the WHO’s actions during the 2003 SARS outbreak.
Then-Director General Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland declared the WHO’s first travel advisory in 55 years, recommending against travel to and from the disease epicenter in southern China and criticized China for endangering global health by attempting to cover up the outbreak by silencing scientists and censoring the media. Sound familiar?
Brundtland in 2003 had the courage to call China out for endangering the rest of the world. This braying Ghebreyesus jackass has no such testicular fortitude and obviously cares more about his Chinese handlers than he does about the millions of people who could die from this pandemic.
And he’s not the only one. When asked in an interview about Taiwan’s response to the pandemic, WHO’s Assistant Director-General Dr. Bruce Aylward pretended not to hear the question, and then hung up when asked again.
‼️WOW‼️ Bruce Aylward/@WHO did an interview with HK’s @rthk_news & when asked about #Taiwan he pretended not to hear the question. The journalist asks again & he hangs up!
She calls back & he said “Well, we’ve already talked about China.”

Real smooth. That doesn’t look suspicious at all.
The WHO is no better than its parent organization, the United Nations, that’s rife with corruption and mismanagement and shields rapists and other corrupt abusers of human rights in its ranks. It is filled with China-funded corrupt goons, should not be taken seriously in discussions about world health issues, and it should not be viewed as a credible voice for public health.
