White House Admitting COVID Is Over, No Big Deal

The recent run of high-profile COVID cases from the Washington DC political circles and at the White House would have triggered absolute panic just a handful of months ago.

My my my, how times have changed. Both Jen Psaki and Karine Jean-Pierre from the White House comms shop were out with COVID recently. Within the last week, the Attorney General, the Commerce Secretary, Representatives Adam Schiff and Joaquin Castro, and Kamala Harris communications director Jamal Simmons, along with others, all tested positive for COVID after the Gridiron Dinner last Saturday. According to the Washington Post, the Gridiron Dinner guest list was large and has a lot of high profile names on it.

The white-tie-and-gowns dinner attracted about 630 guests, including members of Congress, the Cabinet, diplomatic corps, military and business.”

Among those in attendance were Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert and Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

Other guests included Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Roy Blunt (R-Missouri); Reps. Jamie B. Raskin (D-Md.) and Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.); Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and special presidential envoy John F. Kerry; Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell; Govs. Larry Hogan (R) of Maryland and Chris Sununu (R) of New Hampshire; and New York Mayor Eric Adams (D).”

The dinner’s guest list also included former NFL great Emmitt Smith; NBA Commissioner Adam Silver; CBS host Jane Pauley and her spouse, “Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau; Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova; “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan, PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff; ABC chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl, and Washington Post publisher Fred Ryan and editor Sally Buzbee.”

This event is now a confirmed “superspreader,” with Senator Susan Collins, who also was there, announcing that she tested positive as well just yesterday. And if Fauci and Walensky end up with COVID after this dinner, after all their preening sanctimony and rank hypocrisy over the last two years, there will not be enough popcorn in the world to share.

And as we all now know, Nancy Pelosi has COVID, and was just at the White House ACTUALLY KISSING PEOPLE, including Joe Biden, but that’s okay now because as Nina pointed out, the entire definition of “close contact” got reworked. COVID is over, people, so this was no big deal! Right???

Just how over is COVID? White House communications director Kate Bedingfield was on CNN this morning and admitted that someday, Joe Biden is going to test positive for COVID, but we all need to be okay with that because nothing bad will happen.

BERMAN: You know, you said there’s going to be a big celebration today. It made me think about the last time there was a big celebration at the White House for a Supreme Court announcement for Amy Coney Barrett it turned out to be a COVID super spreader event potentially. What precautions are being taken today? I mean, firstly, when was the last time the president was tested, the vice president? Because we know Speaker Pelosi who we’re looking at right here a few days ago is now positive.”

BEDINGFIELD: Well the president was tested Wednesday night, tested negative, and as we said yesterday he was also not a CDC-defined closed contact with Speaker Pelosi, but look. Certainly we have seen an increase in cases. We know that with the BA2 variant is very transmissible. We are taking many, many precautions. We take precautions to ensure that the president is protected, but I do think it’s important to note that, you know, it is possible he will test positive for COVID at some point, and we’re in a very different place than we were, for example, when they held that event for Justice Barrett, which is to say we have vaccines, we have treatments. You know, the president is vaccinated and double-boosted, and so, protected from severe COVID. So we go – we take every precaution to ensure that we keep him safe, we keep the vice president safe, the first lady, the second gentleman, our staff here, but you know, it is certainly possible that he will test positive for COVID. And he is vaccinated. He is boosted and protected from the most severe strains of the virus.”

BERMAN: You know, it’s interesting you say that because does that represent a shift in overall thinking not just at the White House but for the country that basically we should live our lives? You’re saying we’re going to do what we’re going to do and you might get it, but if you take the precautions that you are suggesting it shouldn’t be that bad.”

BEDINGFIELD: Well I think that’s exactly right. That’s certainly – you know, the president is certainly living his life just as, as you say, all Americans across the country are, while taking precautions, while ensuring that we’re following CDC guidance. For example, in an area of high transmission you wear a mask. So there are things you can do to be smart about it and to protect yourself, but you know, we are in a phase of this virus thanks, I would argue, to a lot of good work from the Biden administration to get people vaccinated, to make antiviral pills available. We have treatments. And so, people are out living their lives, and certainly the President of the United States is doing that, too.”

After sowing and reaping hysteria for the past two years, the Democrats that are now in the White House don’t know what to do with themselves in regards to COVID. They are being forced to let go because people are straight-up burned out, but they still want all the power and benefits of COVID. This is how the White House can justify letting Title 42 go (pandemic over!) but still insist that we need a federal state of emergency, an yet another extension on the pause for student loan payments, and masks on airplanes (pandemic not over!). Clown nose on, clown nose off. The White House can hold a big celebration presser for Ketanji Brown Jackson, but then yell about the time the Trump White House held one for Amy Coney Barrett.

The White House cannot have their cake and eat it, too, as much as they might try. To their credit, a bipartisan group of senators is trying to block Title 42 from being lifted until the national state of emergency over COVID is also over. If this White House needs COVID to be finished for political considerations, then COVID is over and done for EVERYTHING.

And how exactly is Kate Bedingfield sure that Joe Biden will be okay if he DOES contract COVID at some point? How many boosters can they give him? The man is nearly 80 and is obviously in decline. There are no guarantees that even with a booster every two months (or whatever), that Biden sails right through COVID with no problems.

That sound you just heard was a Kamala Harris cackle.
