USA Today Stomps All Over Kyler Murray’s Heisman Win Because Of Tweets He Sent At Fifteen

USA Today is getting dragged this morning for their story on Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray. Why? Because reporter (and I use that term loosely) Scott Gleeson dug up tweets from when Kyler was 15 years old. FIFTEEN. The supposedly problematic tweets used a word that is now considered homophobic.

What are the tweets in question? Here’s a link since, late last night, Murray deleted those tweets from his account after Scotty posted his little story.

Ok guys? Context here. Murray was having a twitter conversation with his friends and called them queer! Cue the fainting couches and Pause Pods! Did Scotty Gleeson even look to see if Kyler’s friends were responding back in kind? Doubtful. Do you think any of Murray’s friends were upset about what Murray said? I bet not.

Kyler Murray was awarded the Heisman Trophy and it is well deserved.

Murray is an outstanding athlete.

Murray, who was drafted by the Oakland A’s with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, led the Sooners to a Big 12 championship this season and a spot in the College Football Playoff. The junior threw for 4,053 yards and 40 touchdowns this year.

But sure Scotty, you go ahead and do you. You go ahead and dig through years of social media in order to drag someone into the dirt because of something they said, did, or wrote when they were a kid!

Last night, instead of freely celebrating his win, Murray had to tweet out an apology.

We are indeed living in stupid times.

The media wonders why we don’t like nor trust them. This story about Kyler Murray is Exhibit A. If you read the responses to Murray’s unnecessary apology tweet, you’ll see that the majority of folks completely understand that Kyler did nothing wrong and it is USA Today who should be ashamed of themselves.

I couldn’t agree more. It wasn’t that long ago when the media was all up in our grill insisting that some woman named Christine Blasey Ford had to be believed because Trump! It wasn’t that long ago that the media went after other sports figures such as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen because of supposed racist or homophobic slurs on social media from when they were also young.

The media has appointed themselves as the thought police. Now we see that if you are fortunate enough to accomplish something great, the trash media is ready and willing to gleefully stomp all over your accomplishment because of something that THEY have determined is bad.

Kyler Murray shouldn’t have apologized. Period.

USA Today is in the wrong here. Scott Gleeson is in the wrong here. YOU are the reason why we don’t like the media. YOU are the reason why we don’t trust the media. You don’t like being called vipers or vultures? Then quit writing crap like this.

Let’s tell the truth here: high school and college and professional football players have used ‘homosexual slurs’ to insult other guys for as long as there have been high school and college and professional football players. In fact, just take out the description football players and substitute high school and college and professional males, the vast, vast majority of whom have used ‘homosexual slurs’ directed as insults. That might not be ‘woke,’ but it’s true nevertheless.

  • “Queer” is part of LBGTQetc. This is purely about the left’s goal of making everyone obey. The particular issue isn’t important, it’s simply about ruining someone publicly so that the rest of us will self-censor.

Quillete has an excellent piece on why words aren’t violence; important reading IMO:

The PC press are really grubby little worms, always seeking to drag people who achieve on their own merits down into the gutter where the press generally reside.
