The Sliming of Bill Barr

Bill Barr is the 85th Attorney General of the United States, who began his tenure on Valentine’s Day this year. He served in that position in the administration of George H.W. Bush and served in numerous other positions at the Justice Department, including as Deputy Attorney General from 1990 to 1991. Barr was confirmed by the Senate in a 54–45 vote, but now this distinguished attorney and public servant is getting smeared by the left as a dangerous traitor.

It’s not that Democrats disagree with Barr’s decisions or views. I wish it were that simple. It’s no longer enough to disagree with any Trump administration official; they must be smeared, slimed, dehumanized, and destroyed.

Yesterday, MSNBC host Nicole Wallace declared that Bill Barr is the “most dangerous” person in the Trump administration.

The MSNBC host’s comments came after Barr appeared on Fox News earlier this week and discussed the “multiple” investigations into the origins of the Russia probe.

“His answer — so perplexing, so potentially dangerous to the institutions of law and justice that he oversees — we don’t want to air it without a disclaimer,” Wallace said.

So, a supposed “journalist” reporting about a high-level government official’s comments in front of the White House is issuing a trigger warning, because apparently comments with which she and the unhinged, froth-flecked turnips in her audience disagree must be discredited before they even air. And once she begins her reporting, she makes faces and unprofessionally editorializes about the comments, because the numbskulls in her audience are incapable of making decisions about Barr’s comments on their own without her “help.”

Contrast her comments with the comments of Fox News anchor Chris Wallace on a similar topic during a recent interview. He is also convinced that the Attorney General’s comments are meant to protect the President, but he acknowledges that it is entirely possible Barr could be right about the unethical and corrupt actions of some in government.

“Not saying that Barr isn’t right in everything he says. But he clearly is protecting this president and advocating his point of view on a lot of these issues,” the “Fox News Sunday” anchor continued. “And I suspect that as President Trump, who probably has watched some of this interview himself, is saying finally, ‘No Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr instead.’ ”

Wallace did not make faces to emphasize his comments. He didn’t editorialize about Barr’s character. He expressed a dissenting opinion in a professional manner, without smearing the Attorney General.

And the slime is being hurled from more than just the media. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denigrated Bill Barr as a liar and “a paid hack for the President.”

The Democrats are also essentially accusing Bill Barr of treason – treason, because his three-page letter summarizing the findings of the Special Counsel investigation into the Russian interference, did not provide them with the satisfaction they sought in their quest to show that Trump is somehow a traitor to his country who stole the 2016 election from their anointed C-Hag. National Review editor Rich Lowry writes on the smearing of Bill Barr.

Ultimately, the firestorm over Barr’s summary letter is a misdirection, and he’s a scapegoat. If Mueller wanted to recommend charging Trump with obstruction of justice, he could have done so. Instead, he punted and now he — or some people around him — are upset that the Barr letter accurately stated his convoluted not guilty/not exonerated bottom line.

As for Democrats, if they disagree with Barr’s conclusion that Trump didn’t commit a chargeable crime, it is fully within their power to impeach the president for abuse of power. The standard that Barr was adhering to — whether there was any chance of proving obstruction beyond a reasonable doubt — is more stringent than that for impeachment, which doesn’t even require the commission of a crime.

But the Democrats are too cowardly to put their money where their mouths are. It would be political suicide for them to impeach the President. The majority of Americans oppose impeachment, the procedure would be killed in the US Senate, and the move would largely be seen as a political ploy to destroy the President before the 2020 election.

So instead of impeaching the President, based on their allegedly “true” belief that he is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, they’re simply smearing those around him for not supporting their hysteria.

Bill Barr is helping Trump escape the Russia probe, claims communist rag Mother Jones.

The House Judiciary Committee voted to recommend that the House hold Bill Barr in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over the unredacted Mueller report, ignoring the fact that it would be illegal for Barr to release unredacted grand jury material.

And the Democrats are working to besmirch Bill Barr’s good name by comparing him to Trump’s one-time sleaze of a lawyer Roy Cohn, by bizarrely claiming that Barr is genuflecting in front of Trump in some kind of effort to pad his resume, as if that effort was needed, given that Barr previously held the Attorney General post during the first Bush administration.

Why are they working so hard to destroy Bill Barr? What is the left so scared of?

Well, as Nina wrote earlier, they are likely worried that their own chickens are coming home to roost.

[Former FBI Director James] Comey was totally fine with allowing the Steele Dossier to be used as leverage to get four FISA warrants issued against Carter Page. He was completely ok with ignoring Hillary Clinton’s multiple servers, blatant national security breaches, deletion of thousands of emails, and the use of hammers and Bleach Bit before announcing that there was no ‘There There’ in July 2016.

Would any of that be considered as leadership or professional behavior. I think not.

And Bill Barr has just appointed a Special Counsel to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation, which will almost certainly implicate some unethical current and former government officials.

The widely discredited Steele report – opposition research commissioned by the Clinton campaign – was used to obtain the initial FISA warrant against Carter Page, and a DOJ Inspector General determined that the extensions of this warrant were illegally obtained.

The documents obtained by Citizens United suggest that the FBI may have mislead the FISA court when obtaining these warrants. Oops!

The memos obtained by Citizens United, and shared with the Washington Examiner, show Steele met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11 and admitted he was encouraged by a client to get his research out before the 2016 election, signaling a possible political motivation. The timing of the meeting is notable, as it was 10 days before the FBI used Steele’s unverified dossier to obtain the original warrant to wiretap Page.

It certainly appears that the Democrats are sliming Attorney General Bill Barr in an effort to cover their own asses and divert attention from their corrupt, anointed nominee in 2016. In the process, they’re working to destroy a distinguished individual with a spotless record of public service by comparing him to everything from an unethical ambulance chaser to an outright traitor.

Here’s hoping that AG Barr and others stand strong against this onslaught, and expose the corruption that was the obama administration!

So a president is supposed to have an attorney general that opposes his point of view?
