As predicted, Trump and the Democrats remain deadlocked, signaling government shutdown. As always, the Democrats are pointing fingers, to include Chuck Schumer:
This is Donald Trump’s shutdown.
He owns it. https://t.co/el4T99zNHO
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) September 30, 2025
The Senate voted 55-45 on the measure, leaving Republicans five votes short of the 60 vote threshold for the measure to advance. Only two Democrats—Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and John Fetterman of Pennsylvania—voted for the measure, along with Sen. Angus King of Maine, an independent who caucuses with Democrats. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote against it.”-Nik Popli, Time
Why are we shutting down the government? Because Democrats want illegal alien health care on our dime and (yawn) National Public Radio, apparently. And, if they can’t get that and throw in their extra $1.5 trillion to the pile, they won’t budge. Maxine Waters:
We cannot go a long with the way the Republicans are talking about the cuts that have to be made-that we have to basically agree to, before they can sign off on a continuing resolution. We’re NOT going to give up on Medicaid and Medicare, we’re not gonna do that. We absolutely know that millions of people depend on Medicaid and Medicare. If they want us to sign off on a continuing resolution without dealing with that issue, that’s not gonna happen.”-Maxine Waters
And, it didn’t happen, But somehow, this is the fault of the Republicans?
“Democrats are not going to be blamed for it…(Launches into TDS-laden tirade).”
Healthcare for evvvrybodddy…(as the dentures fall out of her face).
But what did the Dems want Republicans to agree to with their counterfeit resolution? It wasn’t just healthcare for illegals. Let’s talk taxpayer-funded defense for criminals. DEI projects in foreign countries (more trans operas, the joy). A repeal of $50 billion in rural health care funding, hurting hospitals and clinics in these communities. Climate change BS. Oh, yeah, and $1.5 trillion just because they must have forgotten how much they claimed “Trump” threw us into more of a deficit.
So, please. Give me a break about how Maxine, Hakeem and Chuck care so much about these “vulnerable people”. The only “vulnerable people” they care about are the drug-trafficking MS-13 thugs who will eventually be their constituents. They need the illegal vote, which is why they need them to get healthcare on us.

Certainly, these illustrations depict that not even the Democrats are buying what Chuck is selling.
As of midnight, CNN was in panic mode:
Leaders of both parties are privately and publicly adamant that they will not be blamed for the funding lapse: Republicans insist Democrats need to simply agree to extend current funding for another seven weeks. Democrats refuse to do so without major concessions for lending their votes to pass any funding measure in the Senate.”-CNN
Note the wording: Republicans insist Democrats need to simply agree.
Yes, it was that simple. They refused to do so.
It's a CR. A clean CR doesn’t change policy but only buys time to negotiate a broader budget, refusing to support it amounts to playing politics with the basic functioning of government, creating unnecessary instability and hardship. Lunatics.

All Trump’s fault, though.
But The Internet is forever, which is why we’d like to add in this little blast from the past from Cryin’ Chuck:
My, how times have changed! Schumer has gone from a desire to prevent illegals from taking advantage of benefits that should only be offered to citizens. He wants to now give them these benefits off the backs of Americans. Cryin’ Chuck says he’s doing something. But he’s done nothing here except sow even more division. If he and his fellow Democrats actually wanted to keep the government from shutdown, he would have done something else. To quote John Thune, Trump and the Republicans asked the Democrats to accept the CR to keep funding in place for the next few weeks to allow bipartisanship to work. What did the Dems do?
They said “no”.
Chuck Schumer said “no”
It may give some pause to ask, “why”? But, we know why.
For years, the Democrats have been the party of disarray. Tonight, they forced that disarray upon the entire country, shutting down the American government over $1.5 trillion in radically partisan spending demands, including taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens. Democrats made this choice, Democrats forced this crisis, and Democrats alone will answer to hardworking Americans now paying the price for their reckless agenda. The American people deserve an open government that works for them—one that serves our veterans who sacrificed for this country, supports hardworking families struggling, and puts American citizens first, not one held hostage by Democrats demanding handouts for those who broke our laws to get here.”-Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX)
This shutdown speaks volumes of what the left thinks of the American people. Their utter hatred for Trump and this administration got us here. Their disdain takes precedence of doing the prudent thing, the right thing. They are truly ugly pieces of humanity.
So, buckle up, buttercups. Democrats and all who support them will be raging for days. They will take to their socials. They will go on their 5-Star Napa Valley retreats and drown themselves in Chardonnay. No sombrero-wearing at this Newsom-like venue. Look for more Fake Tears from Chuck Schumer but don’t be fooled: this shutdown belongs to HIM.
To the Democrats: cry more.
