Syria And Escalating Cold War With Russia: Obama’s Foreign Policy Failures Continue [VIDEO]

Obama will have to wait til this weekend to golf. Why? He and his aides will be huddling together this afternoon in an attempt to solve this Syria problem.

U.S. President Barack Obama and his top foreign policy advisers are expected to meet on Friday to consider their military and other options in Syria as Syrian and Russian aircraft continue to pummel Aleppo and other targets, U.S. officials said.

Some top officials argue the United States must act more forcefully in Syria or risk losing what influence it still has over moderate rebels and its Arab, Kurdish and Turkish allies in the fight against Islamic State, the officials told Reuters.

One set of options includes direct U.S. military action such as air strikes on Syrian military bases, munitions depots or radar and anti-aircraft bases, said one official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

I wonder what kind of Twizzler style red line in the sand he’s going to draw now?

Fact is, no matter what Obama, Kerry, and the Administration does, its will fail. Think I’m wrong?

A. He drew a red line in the sand regarding Assad’s use of chemical weapons in 2013 and NEVER enforced it.
B. He was right there along with Hillary Clinton when she, as Secretary of State, declared Assad the greatest thing since sliced bread.
C. His lack of action has led to understandable mistrust among the US backed rebels in Syria
D. The US relationship with Russia is the worst its ever been. Cold War bad.

“I think the world has reached a dangerous point,” Gorbachev warned, according to Agence France Presse.
“This needs to stop. We need to renew dialogue,” Gorbachev said, commenting on the US decision to call off Syria talks.
Russia moves nuclear missiles to Europe border
“Indeed, it’s not a Cold War,” said Igor Zevelev, former director of the MacArthur Foundation’s Russia office. “It’s a much more dangerous and unpredictable situation.”

Folks, when you have Mikhail Gorbachev telling the world that Russian/US relations are at danger point, its bad. When you have Putin ordering all children studying abroad to return immediately, it should set alarm bells ringing. Putin’s now best friends with China’s Xi and has conducted joint exercises specifically designed to counter the US. Big problem. Moving ICBMS to Europe border? VERY BAD.

That’s ok. Poland has its own defenses that we helped move into place. Oh wait, that’s right. Obama tanked that deal and has left Poland with bupkis.

In regards to Syria, its been an escalation of name calling and harassment on both sides. With nothing accomplished but a country in ruins, Assad still living high off the hog, and ISIS capitalizing on the chaos created by all.

Secretary of State John Kerry is to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Lausanne, Switzerland tomorrow. Lavrov’s take?

“will launch a serious dialogue on the basis of the principles contained in the Russian-American deal, which was broadly welcomed but which unfortunately was not launched.”

Kerry’s take?

On the US side, Lavrov’s counterpart Secretary of State John Kerry led the call for a war crimes investigation into Russia’s actions in Syria and has said that the US will retaliate for what it sees as interference in the 2016 presidential vote.
“They’re not, quote, ‘getting away with it’ for free,” Kerry said Monday in Palo Alto, referring to hacks on US election systems and political parties.

Considering Kerry’s stupendously horrid track record of negations – Iran Deal anyone? – I can tell you this, the US will once again look foolish and weak.

Thanks to Obama, we are now in a dangerously unpredictable Cold War with Russia, worse than what President Ronald Reagan inherited when he took office. But Reagan left us stronger. Obama won’t.

Obama’s legacy is one of failure on a worldwide scale. I fear our next President, whomever it will be, won’t be strong enough to bring us back from the precipice that Obama left us on. And that, ladies and gentlemen should scare us spitless.
