Salon and the liberal party of science has a PSA for all men pretending to be women this Pride month: Keep it up boys, Pride is healthy. Science says so!
Good for who?
First, we have to unpack definitions of the two types of pride. So, here we go:
Authentic pride is the good pride, feeling confident, like you worked hard for something and feel great about yourself. Hubristic pride is egotism, and the words that go with it are arrogant, conceited, cocky and pretentious.”-Elizabeth Hlavinka, Salon
Glad for the clarification, Ms. Hlavinka. Of course, Salon is speaking about authentic pride. Feeling confident because YOU worked so hard for something and feel so great about yourself. This is “scientifically” good for someone who wants to cosplay as the opposite sex.
Correction: HE shared HIS win with other athletes. HE should have been banned. But, pride. It feels good.
YAY, SCIENCE!
Many studies have linked negative health outcomes to shame, which is closely related to the stigma and discrimination LGBTQ and other marginalized communities face. Yet studies have also shown that positive health outcomes are associated with shame’s opposite: pride.”-Elizabeth Hlavinka, Salon
Thank you, girls, that makes you winners in my eyes
It's time you stand against males in female sports— Anonymous MAGA source (@air2dlp12345) June 2, 2025
We wouldn’t want the boys who tuck in their junk for the long jump to feel the utter shame and embarrassment of competing with other boys who would utterly smoke them in the same competition. These boys identify as girls, which makes them, Salon scientifically speaking, young women. In the name of pride, we have to make them feel good. And, winning is standing on a podium knowing you out-ran a girl, apparently, and that you had your family’s support. You had you community’s support. You had your school district’s support. All of this support, evokes a sense of pride.
‘Having family support can offset some of the negative health impacts resulting from discrimination’, said Elizabeth Saewyc, a nursing professor who researches youth LGBTQ health at the University of British Columbia. Many queer people also find this support through a chosen family.
That contributes to a sense of pride, which allows you to also shrug it off a bit more,’ Saewyc told Salon in a phone interview. ‘That helps support people’s well-being and buffers against those negative health outcomes.'”-Elizabeth Hlavinka, Salon
Shake, shake, shake it off, shake it off, young MAN. You have support in numbers. And, when two girls who worked their butts off and are hoping their dreams for college scholarships are not flushed down the proverbial toilet, you still have your family, your community and your school district supporting you and your sense of entitlement and delusion. This is pride. This is, scientifically, good for you.
When you are supported, accepted and celebrated for who you are, you are really allowed to grow and flourish.”-Jessica Tracy, The University of British Columbia
Hlavinka quotes this Jessica Tracy character and her writings on pride-as an emotion. Not a month in June. But, leave it to Salon to take it out of context and justify boys in girls’ locker rooms as authentic pride. No hubristic pride to see here, according to these loons. But I would beg to differ in defining Pride and equating it with hubris.
Hubris Comes From Ancient Greece
English picked up both the concept of hubris and the term for that particular brand of cockiness from the ancient Greeks, who considered hubris a dangerous character flaw capable of provoking the wrath of the gods. In classical Greek tragedy, hubris was often a fatal shortcoming that brought about the fall of the tragic hero. Typically, overconfidence led the hero to attempt to overstep the boundaries of human limitations and assume a godlike status, and the gods inevitably humbled the offender with a sharp reminder of their mortality.”--Merriam-Webster.com
Hubris is, in short, arrogance. Entitlement. Overstepping boundaries. Conceit. Vanity. Pomposity.
Years ago, we watched a delusional, skinny boy in makeup named Dylan Mulvaney chronicle HIS life on TikTok as a “girl”. Carrying tampons because HE wants a period. Talking about carrying a CHILD one day. If this is not hubris, I am not sure what is. Scientifically speaking, I would venture to say that this form of hubristic pride is NOT good for any human and anyone who is affirming this type of Pride, is aiding and abetting this person’s hard crash into reality and downfall. Salon, however, sees thing differently, though:
Ultimately, the onus of repairing harms done by systematic discrimination is on those who have the power to change those systems, and not the individuals affected by them. Still, science suggests pride as a feeling and Pride as a celebration both have a role to play in combating the stressors that result from that discrimination.”-Elizabeth Hlavinka, Salon

This is for the girls…the true girls, that is. In this month, I am hoping that women-true women-will celebrate their wins and be LOUD and PROUD. For all WOMEN who have blazed a trail. To those who’ve had the occasional period from hell. To those who have experienced the miracle of carrying a tiny human for 9 months and either labored or bore the abdominal scar to bring this child into the world. Raise your hands, ladies in the back, if you’re done with the periods from hell and giving birth because I, for one, know those damn hot flashes and hormonal mood swings are NO FREAKING JOKE. There is no shame in being who you are.
Guys in dresses using our locker rooms? Yeah, we see you. Feel that authentic, scientific pride all you want, you pompous asses. Scientifically, you can use a urinal which makes you a MAN. If you choose to believe false science, that’s on you. It’s high time to call out this hubris and give it a good kick in the balls.

“Pride” is one of those English words that really means two different things.
And “pride” as it has been used by too many for too long – a stand-alone concept – is never good. It’s what caused The Fall, the Tower of Babel, the vast majority of wars, the destruction of civilizations (especially the Babylonian empire falling to the Medo-Persians), and most riches-to-rags stories. It is the downfall of so many, the virtue of all those who would replace God with themselves.
On top of that, they stole the rainbow from God, absconding with the symbol of His grace and torturing it into a symbol of the very thing that forced the requirement for grace – Pride in Sin.
Don’t forget that the Pride problem exists for homosexuals, too. The original Pride was defying Nature and Nature’s God as relates to sex. Now it’s gender. All for the momentary pleasure of poking God in the eye. Like all the other Prides, it will not turn out well. (God already warned us with AIDS and Monkeypox. But Fauci knew better than God.)
One wonders what the suicide rate for the transitioners will be in five or 10 years. Is 40 percent acceptable? 50 percent? More?
Interesting in that Pride was one of the seven Deadly Sins. Hardly a positive place to start the discussion. Cheers –
