Today, in spite of the “peaceful” protests around the country that involve burning Donald Trump in effigy, advocating violence and death, calling out those who did vote for Trump as racists…. the work of the peaceful transition of power begins.
President Barack Obama will host President-elect Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday in their first public step toward a transition of power after a bitterly fought election campaign that ended with the Republican businessman’s surprise victory.
In fact, both Donald and Melania will be at the White House today.

Yesterday, in the Rose Garden, Obama had spoke about the election results:
Specifically he said the following:
Now, it is no secret that the President-elect and I have some pretty significant differences. But remember, eight years ago, President Bush and I had some pretty significant differences. But President Bush’s team could not have been more professional or more gracious in making sure we had a smooth transition so that we could hit the ground running. And one thing you realize quickly in this job is that the presidency, and the vice presidency, is bigger than any of us.
So I have instructed my team to follow the example that President Bush’s team set eight years ago, and work as hard as we can to make sure that this is a successful transition for the President-elect — because we are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading the country. The peaceful transition of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy. And over the next few months, we are going to show that to the world.
If you read just the headlines, you’ll see the media (who still can’t seem to figure out how they got the election so wrong) breathlessly proclaiming the meetings will be awkward, it will be difficult to set aside the rancor of the election, lots of olive branches are needed, and more. They are also regurgitating the talking points of disagreement and continuing to flog the birther nonsense. Gee media, and you wonder why the election didn’t go your way? But I digress.
The start of today’s transition involved a White House Residence tour and meeting of the current and future First Ladies. It also involved an Oval Office meeting between Obama and President-elect Donald Trump.
Sadly it’s evident that the White House and the Obamas, can’t seem to set aside their hurt feelings.
The Obamas canceled a photo-op of the current and future first couples outside the south entrance of the White House. In his first visit to the White House after the 2008 election, Mr. Obama and first lady Michelle Obama posed for the cameras alongside President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush. The decision not to participate in this tradition illustrates how bitter the campaign was, particularly for Mrs. Obama who delivered some of the most emotional arguments against electing Mr. Trump.
Bluntly, its time for the everyone, including Barack and Michelle Obama, to pull their heads out and start acting like grownups. Enough of the wailing, weeping, violent rioting, gnashing of teeth, and playing the passive aggressive cards. GROW UP.
There aren’t many countries in the world with the freedoms we have and the ability to transition power from one President to another as peacefully as we do. We should ALL be celebrating that instead of crying in our Cheerios about election results that cannot be changed.
As an aside, this is a link to a Team Trump website:
https://www.greatagain.gov/
The site has info about President-Elect Trump and Vice-President-Elect Mike Pence. There is info about both the First Lady to-be and the Second Lady to-be. Transition information will be posted and information about the early focus of the new administration.
There’s a short video, 30 secs, entitled “My Dad.”
