Omicron is now the bad guy when it comes to Covid. At least that’s what our government betters and that little troll Fauci are telling us. Except that the extreme and asinine overreaction by multiple governments have left people stranded and will decimate major tourism businesses.
Lauren Kennedy Brady landed in Johannesburg on Friday to a flurry of text messages and news alerts.
The Broadway veteran and North Carolina resident was headed home after 11 days touring Africa alongside her mother, daughter and niece — a long-delayed bucket list item for the foursome. They were at the first stop on what was supposed to be a multi-leg journey from Zambia to Raleigh. Everything was going smoothly.
But scanning her phone, Kennedy Brady, 47, learned a new variant of the coronavirus had been detected in South Africa. Not long after, the family found themselves stranded, their reservation on the next flight canceled amid the new restrictions.
They weren’t the only family left stranded around the world as governments went into full PANIC SKY IS FALLING! mode. People making plans to see families for Christmas, now what will they do? For South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana, they are entering the high tourist season for safaris. It’s nearly summer there and now, the US, Britain, France, Canada and others are in a high state of panic over this Omicron thing. Everything is coming to a screeching halt and for WHAT? A virus mutation that does nothing other than exhibit the mildest of mild flu symptoms??!!
Very few in the media are reporting WHAT symptoms people are experiencing. If you follow the headlines one would believe that convention centers will be turned into Covid hospitals again. Am I exaggerating? Not one bit. What the media is ignoring or BURYING is this. The symptoms identified are….MILD.
The first South African doctor to alert the authorities about patients with the omicron variant has told The Telegraph that the symptoms of the new variant are unusual but mild.
Dr Angelique Coetzee said she was first alerted to the possibility of a new variant when patients in her busy private practice in the capital Pretoria started to come in earlier this month with Covid-19 symptoms that did not make immediate sense.
Yet, as soon as she reported the new virus variant/mutation, governments around the world went into full lockdown mode. World Health Organization didn’t want that to happen, neither did Francis Collins of the NIH.
Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health in the United States, emphasized that there is no data yet that suggests the new variant causes more serious illness than previous COVID-19 variants.
Quite frankly, the Dr. Coetzee doesn’t feel that, based upon her 33 years of experience, any lockdowns are necessary.
MILD is indeed the operative word regarding this Omicron mutation. Furthermore, look again at the symptoms.
By golly, that sounds like a mild case of the flu doesn’t it? It sure does!
However, if you are Fauci, you’ll do your damndest to fear-monger.
Dr. Fauci also reiterated that boosters for fully vaccinated individuals provide the strongest available protection from COVID. The COVID Response Team’s immediate recommendation to all vaccinated adults is to get a booster shot as soon as possible.

Then again, as we’ve pointed out for nearly two years now, his narcissistic ego is so large that he LOVES stoking fear so he can keep the power trip going. About that…

my colleague Ted Koppel that
you would not retire until you get COVID in the rearview mirror?
DR. FAUCI: That is correct

Here’s the deal, the U.S., and other countries, have now shut down travel to and from multiple countries in the South Africa region. Why? Because power. Not because of this Omicron thing. Nope, don’t tell everyone that the symptoms are mild. Can’t have that.
Government overreaction has now left hundreds if not thousands of people stranded around the world. A significant number haven’t seen family members for over a year. Others went to visit and are now trying to figure out how to get back home and get to their jobs, or scramble to work remotely for an indefinite period of time.
Meanwhile, tourism and safari companies are getting the shaft. The bread and butter in the South Africa/Botswana/Zimbabwe countries is safaris. This government overreaction to MILD cases of a flu virus mutation is an economic killer.
Quite frankly, this pisses me off. I know good people in those countries who have been hurting big time because of these asinine overreactions. Safari guides, staff at lodges, the villages, the orphanages, and more. Again, this is the start of summer high season for safaris, and government overreaction is TOTALLY to blame. NOT this differential flu virus now wandering the world thanks to that Xi Pooh fellow. Everyone needs to slow their roll and quit overreacting.
Especially when we have people contradicting Fauci and telling us that that panicking is overrated.
"i represent science"? what are you, the fucking lorax of expertise? https://t.co/dpCFY8BmUw

Omicron is a mild bug, NOT a feature.

I see why you are following the WHO (not the band) recommendation to call this the Omicron variant — better alliteration,
Your title would really get messed up if this were the Nu variant (beside the fact that some barely literate folks might confuse that with the “new” variant).
Furthermore, some might think that we were again blaming the Chinese for the Wuhan flu if we called it the Xi variant. Certainly, none of our leading liberals will allow us to fix blame where blame is due.
This is what concerns me. My trip to southern Europe has been rescheduled 2 times and I hope not to get stuck over there. Only thing that I can be reassured about is that the tour agency is a good one.
[…] That’s all they’ve got. More testing, vaccinate the hell out of everyone, monitor international travelers, and make insurance pay for at-home covid […]
