The FBI had been keeping close tabs on him after an informant reported to the bureau that Cornell had been posting threats to national security on social media. The 20 year old was arrested after he bought two M-15 assault rifles and 600 rounds of ammunition. As soon as his purchase was finished, several agents apprehended him outside of the gun store.
Thankfully, his plot was foiled before he could detonate his pipe bombs, and shoot those employees and government officials fleeing from the Capital building.
However, his father spoke with ABC News, and insisted that the FBI “set him up” and coerced him into planning an attack.
“He was a vulnerable, gullible 16 year old in a 20 year olds body, and I think the FBI coerced him,” said John Cornell, Sr, father of Christopher Lee Cornell.

Yes, that is what our federal agents have time to do – convince some idiot 20 year old to convert to Islam and then plan an attack on our Capital building. The stupid runs deep in this one I’m ashamed to report. The FBI doesn’t have other, more important issues to be concerned with. Their number one concern is to find some gullible “momma’s boy” to coerce into plotting a diabolical attack to be carried out against Congress.
“I know my son probably better than anyone,” Cornell’s father told ABC News. “He’s a mommy’s boy. His best friend is his cat Mikey. He still calls his mother ‘Mommy’. Just a typical kid.”
Listen, I get it. No one wants to admit that the child that they raised and loved is capable of plotting a horrifying, murderous attack on the nation’s Capital. However, attempting to paint your radical, Islamic son as a good guy when presented with facts that he did, indeed, plot to kill hundreds of people is foolish. And, I’m so sick of people referring to 20 year olds as “kids”. They aren’t children. They are adults.
John Cornell Sr. went on to tell ABC News that his son couldn’t have possibly plotted such a complicated terror plot on his own.
“He told me he went to a mosque and now I know, in hindsight, I know he was meeting with an FBI agent,” Cornell Sr. said. “And they were taking him somewhere, and they were filling his head with a lot of this garbage.”
Well, someone was filling his head with “garbage”, but it wasn’t the FBI, Buddy. It was the Islamic extremists he was beginning to associate with, probably both at the mosque and online, only proving that you know very little about your own son.
Cornell Sr. also accused the FBI of funding the attack that they eventually planned on foiling anyway. He said his son wouldn’t have had the kind of cash required to fund such an attack, stating that Christopher Lee Cornell only had $1,200 in his bank account.
“These guns cost almost $2,000. Where did that money come from? Well, it came from the FBI,” said John Cornell Sr. “They set him up.”
Christopher Lee Cornell’s mother, Angela Carmen, said her son was a good person, a homebody, and interested in wrestling.
“I just love my son. I’ll do anything in the world for him, and I’ll be right by his side,” Carmen said.
What a nice picture-some lucky girl could have had a fine looking boyfriend lol!
Why do I have a funny feeling that this “child’s” parents are both clueless moonbats who a)Believe Islamania is the “religion of peace” and b) vote Democrat at every election?
The more I look at that picture the more I think he resembles Charles Manson. All he needs is a swastika on his forehead.
I only have three words for this. John Walker Lindh.
Didn’t his dad make the same claims?
Just another example of Liberommunist Yuppie parenting skills……these parents have no idea on God’s green earth what their spoiled, whiney, living-in-my-parents’-house-at-20-years-of-age, stooge is doing!! 16 year old in a 20 year old’s body….yup, MoonBats!! SMHITD
I’m sure he was turning his life around, was a good boy and didn’t do anything wrong-oh wait, that’s the stuff said about the Gentle Giant (and others like him), wasn’t it? Never mind! Same difference whether it’s in regards to Leftist coddlers or Koranist ones-the drivel is ALWAYS the same, isn’t it?
