Nurses Union Holds Secret Training Sessions To Combat ICE

A large nurses union in Oregon has come together with Democratic lawmakers to introduce a bill that would require hospitals and some federally funded primary care clinics to designate certain areas as off-limits to ICE.

According to this:

Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) is promoting training sessions for nurses to resist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in hospitals.

ONA, which represents around 15,000 nurses, is the largest nurses union in Oregon. As an affiliate of National Nurses United—the largest nurses union in the United States—ONA also wields influence at the national level.

Notably, the email says that the sessions will not be recorded or posted publicly, adding a secretive element to the training sessions.”-Amanda Prestigiacomo, Daily Wire

The bill, SB 1570 is scheduled for reading on the Senate Floor this Monday.

The bill’s proponents say the state doesn’t have the authority to regulate the actions of federal agents through Oregon law. But lawmakers can regulate hospital operations in the state, so that’s the approach they took.

It would require hospitals to establish procedures, like requiring a key code or badge, to restrict access to treatment areas by immigration authorities, unless they present a valid judicial warrant or court order.

The bill’s provisions would also apply to Federally Qualified Health Centers, which are community and county health clinics that get special federal support to serve low-income and uninsured groups.”-Oregon Public Broadcasting, Amelia Templeton

An email to members of ONA regarding this bill reads:

As frontline healthcare workers, we are entrusted with a fundamental responsibility: to preserve life, reduce harm, and provide care with dignity to everyone who comes through our doors. As ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) activity increases across Oregon, that responsibility is in jeopardy. Intimidation and the use of force create fear that keeps immigrant communities from seeking care and until conditions become life-threatening. This fear directly interferes with our ethical, professional, and legal duties and endangers lives rather than protecting public safety.”-ONA

Preserve life, deduce harm. Provide care with dignity to everyone who comes through our doors. Ethical, professional.

There’s this crazy chick. Then there’s Erik Martindale, a registered nurse in Florida, who posted on Facebook that he would deny anesthesia for “MAGA” patients, those in the Make America Great Again movement.

But he didn’t really say this. His account got “hacked”, supposedly. (If you believe that, I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Arizona.)

Then, there’s this gem:

Lexie Lawler, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, posted a social media video saying, “As a labor and delivery nurse, it gives me great joy to wish Karoline Leavitt a fourth-degree tear.”-Tyler O’Neill, The Daily Signal

Thank God individuals took their oaths seriously when I was pregnant. They would have let me bleed out to die on the table and my son would have been without a mother.

Fundamental responsibilities include the person who did not vote the same way as or may not share the same ideology. These responsibilities also encompass the veteran. Our own homeless population. And don’t even get me started on the Nation’s elderly. You know the ones who have put years of work into OUR system who sit waiting to be seen in emergency rooms, brushed off, or waiting for a hospital bed while individuals who have NOT contributed to our system get care? Where is the desire to preserve life, reduce harm and provide care with dignity for them? The nurses unions are too wrapped up around the axles about letting in ICE officers to cart someone who is not here legally off than caring for our own citizens. It’s curious, to say the very least.

As a daughter of aging parents, I have seen the neglect come into play several times when it came to the care of my elderly dad and father-in-law in hospitals. One was on a bed, in a hallway in the ER, in pain, waiting for a room for almost a whole day. The other, was waiting for answers and for someone to help him out of bed and to walk for a whole 48 hours before a nurse called a Physical Therapist to come and give the okay to convalesce at home. That one involved a few heated phone calls from me to the house supervisor. I don’t fault the healthcare providers individually because they are overburdened. But part of this overburdening is due to individuals using a system that they didn’t pay into, and lawmakers who enabled this whole mess.

Texas hospitals accumulated more than $1 billion in healthcare costs for illegal immigrants during fiscal year 2025, the first year the state began tracking the figures.

The data, compiled by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and obtained by Texas Scorecard, shows hospitals logged 313,742 visits linked to individuals not legally present, with total costs reaching $1.05 billion by the end of the fiscal year.”-Michael Morgan, Fox News

And that is just in the state of Texas alone. Now, as nurses unions across the nation demand higher wages, they are shooting themselves in the proverbial feet by siding politically with the very groups of lawmakers who have made their jobs harder over the past few years. They have also, in their intent to “do no harm”, made the notion of going to the hospital much more dangerous and scary by politicizing medical care.

The “resistance” trainings, as proposed in this bill, will not be made public and that is also very curious.

ONA has removed its Twitter profile but has held candlelight vigils for Alex Pretti. It is also far from the only nurses’ organization that is standing in solidarity with Pretti and abolishing ICE.

As we’ve documented at Do No Harm, if medical schools, associations, and hospitals allow radical politics to influence curricula and training, then they shouldn’t be surprised when they produce harmful activists rather than skilled medical professionals.”-Dr. Kurt Miceli, chief medical officer at Do No Harm.

But, go ahead. Put Ex-Lax in their drinks. Fill syringes with whatever and hit up restaurants where ICE Agents frequent Ma Anand Sheela style.

Yep, that happened in Oregon, too. Welcome to Wild, Wild Country. Different decade. Still, the cults and brainwashing are alive and well. At this rate, they will long outlive our Conservative grandparents and maybe even some of us. Better pray you all don’t have to go to the hospital any tine soon.
