You know how politicians never fulfill the big promises they make? It appears that President Trump is working to carry out his biggest promise of all, and that’s to build that wall on the U.S.-Mexican border.
On Wednesday Trump signed executive orders ordering the construction of the controversial wall. He wasn’t finished either — he’s threatened to cut off federal funds from “sanctuary cities” that willfully harbor illegal immigrants.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto wasn’t too happy about these new orders from the Trump Tornado. He cancelled a meeting that he had scheduled with Trump for next week.
And Trump’s reaction? Meh. Trump declared that the meeting would’ve been “fruitless.” “Unless Mexico is going to treat the United States fairly – with respect – such a meeting would be fruitless,” he said.
There’s more: the U.S. Border Patrol Chief, Mark Morgan, has been asked by the Department of Homeland Security to step down from his post. Morgan had been supportive of former President Obama’s attempts to keep certain illegal immigrants from deportation. Moreover, members of the border patrol union had been supportive of Trump’s presidential campaign and his executive orders. They were critical of Morgan.
As urban slang goes, “S**t’s gettin’ real.”
This nation has been way overdue for a correction on immigration. Americans were rightfully horrified at the death of Kate Steinle at the hands of an illegal alien who was allowed to roam the streets of San Francisco, a sanctuary city. They were infuriated when details emerged of the gun-walking operation Fast and Furious, which allowed firearms to fall into the welcoming arms of Mexican drug cartels. The botched program also cost border patrol agent Brian Terry his life. They’re disgusted by illegal immigrants who have crossed over the property of ranchers along the southern border, leaving behind tons of waste.
Feelings and relations are getting bruised, but this is the result of decades of overlooking the massive problem of illegal immigration. And the blame should be laid on leaders of both parties. Democrats were happy to welcome illegal immigrants because they envisioned these people being granted citizenship and voting rights, thus ensuring permanent Democrat power. Republicans were eager to satisfy their Chamber of Commerce cronies with the promises of cheap labor.
Those days are about to come to an end, and it’s about time.
Sîmple solution is to put a fee on all the wire transfers Mexicans make from here to Mexico.
yeah, a 100% fee.. and send every illegal felon back to the country they came from…. if the country won’t accept them, send them back anyway… off a C-130, at 10,000 feet… without a parachute…
