The United States is one of only a handful of nations that allow late-term abortion for any reason. Today, Albuquerque voters will head to the polls to decide the fate of one of the most barbaric practices still thriving in America today: late term abortion. If passed, abortions after twenty weeks would be rendered illegal in Albuquerque. The vote could have nationwide ramifications, sending a powerful message to D.C.
“From a political standpoint, there are national implications to this campaign. If the ordinance can win in this blue-state community, it will send a strong message to Washington that the people want and need a similar ban on late-term abortions at the Federal level,” said Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue.
“This vote, along with other local initiatives, is just another clear example of how the pro-life movement will overturn Roe v. Wade. That is grassroots efforts chipping away at Roe’s foundations until there is nothing left. The new ‘template’ for ending abortion is moving away from Washington, D.C. and federal solutions and focusing on local efforts where our strength and support has always been strongest,” said Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition.
Albuquerque, you see, is home to Southwestern Women’s Options, one of the largest late-term abortion providers in the country, one of just a handful left in the United States, whose staff routinely perform late-term abortions on viable babies. And the method they use to terminate infants is no less than heinous: the staff kills unborn babies by shooting them through the heart with poison that, revealed in an undercover video, Profits from Pain, is a “week-long procedure,” sometimes with the mothers left to deliver their dead infants in a hotel room. Attached to the torturous procedure is an $8,000 price tag, one that increases by another $1,000 with each week that passes. The pro-life group Live Action produced this video. Note the use of the word “it” in reference to the unborn child, a necessary objectification in order to rationalize infanticide:
Pro-life groups insist that the passage of a ban on late term abortions in Albuquerque will save lives not only in that state, but across the nation because Southwestern Women’s Options, they assert, is ground zero for the state-sanctioned murder of infants:
“Municipal elections rarely garner much attention outside a city, but in this case, it is of national concern because the largest late-term abortion clinic in the nation operates in Albuquerque, drawing customers from every state for abortions halfway through pregnancy and later. The passage of this ordinance will save lives across America,” said Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights. Not for some, but for all, no matter how small. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 11,000 late-term abortions are performed annually—pregnancies after 20 weeks—often on healthy, viable babies, frequently for trivial reasons, despite the assertions otherwise from the pro-abort crowd. Today, Albuquerque is presented with the invaluable opportunity to right that horrific wrong, while paving the way for the rest of the country to demand the end of the practice of legalized murder once and for all. Albuquerque, the nation is watching.
This is a special election for a municipal ordinance. It applies to the city of Albuquerque only, and will not affect the rest of the state.
Thank you for clarifying, Sea Dragon. I will update the post.
Proposed ordinance defeated 55-45. Republican candidate for city council also defeated.
Thank you. Yep. I saw that. I’m very saddened that voters elected the continued slaughter of babies.
