New Covid-19 Variant From South Africa

The latest news yesterday was about a new Covid-19 variant from South Africa. It’s a super-mutated version. It’s scaring health experts. Just in time for the Holiday season, we get more, scarier fear mongering. Will you be able to see your relatives for Hanukkah, Christmas and New Years? Or, will you wave at them through the windows and drop kick their presents out the front door?

Ever since China unleashed the Covid-19 virus on the world, autocrats like Drs. Birx and Fauci and Governors Newsom and Cuomo have used this Coronavirus to control people and people have bought it. My neighbor next door hasn’t left her house, yet. My neighbor across the street, with two medical professionals in the house and everyone vaxxed and boosted, had Thanksgiving yesterday on her screened-in porch with masks and plastic utensils????

The two medical television doctors I have trusted the most are Dr. Nicole Saphier and Dr. Marc Siegel. When I saw Dr. Siegel on the news worrying about this new Covid-19 variant, I thought, hmmm, it must be scary. Not that would change anything for me personally. I just know that that means the snowflakes will be running around screaming like they are in a Godzilla movie.

So, just what is so scary about this new Covid b.1.1.529 variant from South Africa:

“This variant did surprise us, it has a big jump in evolution, many more mutations than we expected, especially after a very severe third wave of Delta,” said Tulio de Oliveira, director of the KwaZulu-Natal Research and Innovation Sequencing Platform.

The B1.1.529 variant has a “very unusual constellation of mutations,” with more than 30 mutations in the spike protein alone, said Mr. de Oliveira. On the ACE2 receptor — the protein that helps to create an entry point for the coronavirus to infect human cells — the new variant has 10 mutations. In comparison, the Beta variant has three, the Delta variant has two, said Mr. de Oliveira.

Displaying mutations that might resist neutralization, scientists are also still unclear how effective existing vaccines will be against the new variant. The variant shares similarities with the Lambda and Beta variants, which are associated with an innate evasion of immunity, said Richard Lessells, an infectious diseases specialist at the KwaZulu-Natal Research and Innovation Sequencing Platform.

Godzilla is rampaging. Let the running and screaming begin. In response, the UK is banning flights from South African countries:

Before this new Covid variant, South Africa gave us the Beta variant, formerly known as b.1.351:

People infected with the Beta coronavirus variant are more likely to need critical care and to die than are people infected with other variants1. The Beta variant, also known as B.1.351, was first identified in late 2020 in South Africa, where it sparked a second COVID-19 wave before spreading globally.

Some evidence has suggested that severe cases of COVID-19 were more common during South Africa’s Beta-driven second wave than during its first wave, caused by the ancestral version of SARS-CoV-2. To determine whether the Beta variant is linked to increased severity, Laith Jamal Abu-Raddad, an infectious-disease epidemiologist at Weill Cornell Medicine—Qatar in Doha, studied infected people in Qatar in early 2021.

Eleven months ago, South African Dr. Julio de Oliveira described the Beta variant. See if this language doesn’t look familiar to the new Covid variant he described above:

Okay, so the spike proteins are getting better at finding entry points. Yippee skippy. You still have a 98% plus chance of recovering from the Rona. According to the latest CDC data, deaths from Covid-19 are falling:

The current 7-day moving average of new deaths (1,032) has decreased 2.4% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (1,058). As of November 17, 2021, a total of 764,473 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the United States.

According to Healthline, Covid-19 isn’t in the top 10 causes of death. Stroke, Cancer, Cirrhosis and Alzheimer’s are all more likely to get you than the Wuhan flu in any variation.

My advice to you is not to start drinking heavily. Lose weight, get some sun and fresh air. Get vaxxed if that’s your jam. Stay home if you feel unwell. Ignore the news and the variants no matter where they come from. Worrying about the different variants is very bad for your health. This is all about trying to control you.
