Media Pounced On Trump’s Ulysses S. Grant Remarks And Gets It All Wrong, Again [VIDEO]

The media and Democrats really can’t help themselves. They will look for anything and everything they can of what Trump says or does and find someway to take it out of context. Last Friday’s rally in Ohio was a prime example. The media seized…no they POUNCED on his remarks concerning the Civil War and Generals Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant.

President Trump praised the Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee while asking African American voters to “honor us” by voting Republican at an Ohio rally that featured an unexpected and provocative monologue on America’s Civil War history.

Addressing an open-air rally of around 4,000 supporters, Trump appeared buoyant as he declared that Lee was a “true great fighter” and “great general.” He also said President Abraham Lincoln once had a “phobia” of the Southern general, whose support of slavery has made his legacy a heavily contested and divisive issue.

The comments came during an anecdote about Ohio-born President Ulysses S. Grant’s alleged drinking problems. “So Robert E. Lee was a great general. And Abraham Lincoln developed a phobia. He couldn’t beat Robert E. Lee,” Trump said. “Robert E. Lee was winning battle after battle after battle.”

The WaPo went on to snidely remark that asking African Americans to honor Republicans is somehow going to reignite the divisive debate over our country’s racial history. Oh, OH REALLY? Exactly WHO is wanting to stir the pot regarding our history. Exactly WHO is so anxious to make Trump look bad that they POUNCE on a remark and willfully take it out of context in order to drive their narrative? Hellooooo MEDIA!

That’s just two. Looking at the reports, nearly EVERYONE in the mainstream media piled on. They had their narrative and they ran with it even while others threw up their hands and said, WTH are you talking about? Did you even LISTEN to what Trump said?

No, no they did not. Well, then again, they might have listened, but they found their narrative and ran with it because TRUMP!! ELEVENTY!!! MAKE HIM PAY FOR HILLARY’S LOSS!!!

Here’s the thing, given the speech above, the media got it wrong on so many levels it’s laughable.

Keep in mind folks that Civil War historians are in agreement that Lee was asked to be a Union General. However, he just couldn’t bring himself to fight against his home state of Virginia, hence he became the top-notch Confederate General who, at the time of Grant’s appointment by Lincoln, was getting very close to winning the Civil War.

What is ironic about this entire thing is that folks at that rally and those who bothered to listen and engage in listening comprehension understood something.

Given that we are three plus days and counting into the media POUNCING on a willfully taken out of context portion of Trump’s remarks, it’s evident that the media and far too many who refuse to read past the headlines are all too happy to run with the Trump is racist! narrative.

Trump was correct this morning. His narrative regarding Ulysses S. Grant was indeed a ‘shout out’ to a great general.

As noted here, Trump’s over arching point was that Grant stepped into a fight that had long odds, but he had the will to fight and to win. That is what we need right now, the will to fight and overcome misleading and false narratives crafted by the media.

The media got everything about Trump’s speech wrong, AGAIN. Reason number eleventy zillion and five why they are called “Fake News.”
