Mark Zuckerberg- Red Pilled Or Political Expediency?

Our Carol once described Mark Zuckerberg as “the little lizard” in a post about Zuck donating one million dollars to Trump’s Inauguration Committee. True fact, he does have a lizard head and his behavior has been lizard-y. Now, Zuck has announced that he is losing the third-party fact checkers, instituting Community Note a la Musk’s X and moving some of the team members out of California. This, the day after he announced Trump bud Dana White is joining the Meta board. Has Zuck been red-pilled or is this just politically expedient?

Bottom line up front, it’s probably both or everything because there is so much. So, just what did Zuckerberg say?

Oy freaking vey! What a slimy putz. Here is the write up from CBS News:

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday said the social media company is ending its fact-check program and replacing it with a community-driven system similar to that of Elon Musk’s X.

Zuckerberg cited the election as underlying the decision, calling it a “cultural tipping point towards, once again, prioritizing speech.” Zuckerberg made the announcement in a video. “We’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes similar to X, starting in the U.S.”

The changes will impact Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram — which have billions of users — as well as Threads.

The systems put in place to moderate its platforms make too many mistakes, Zuckerberg stated.

Meta introduced its fact-checking program in 2016 as part of an effort to curb misinformation. The initiative was launched in response to criticism over Facebook’s role in spreading false claims during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. A 2023 statement from Meta said the fact-checking program had “expanded to include nearly 100 organizations working in more than 60 languages globally.”

It feels a little like a fork-tongued lie from Zuck. Just him saying “governments and legacy media have pushed to censor more and more” sounds like whale caca. I have been on FB since 2007 and it was always heavily censored. Nobody made Zuckerberg do Zuckerbucks. He was into it. Counting Stars put it this way:

…announcement, made just days before Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president, demonstrates a change of trend in the wave of attacks on freedom of expression from large technology companies, most of which are ideologically aligned with the left, with the major exception of Twitter since the arrival of Elon Musk.

However, Zuckerberg’s announcement leaves some questions. One of them concerns the content that his social networks have been arbitrarily removing. Will Mark Zuckerberg restore the content that Facebook abusively censored? Facebook and Instagram have been applying abusive and ideologically motivated censorship for years. This censorship has been particularly harsh on conservative users, even though they did not violate the community standards of that social network. Often, this censorship has been imposed without any kind of explanation by Meta’s social networks.

Some of us FB Felons would like some kind of explanation. Little Lizard has had fascist tendencies all along. Mr. Zuckerberg was more than happy to collude with governments and legacy media to censor speech. No one twisted his spindly little lizard arms.

Let’s say that Zuckerberg did have a St. Paul style conversion on the Road to Damascus but with the voice of Donald Trump instead of Jesus. In fact months ago, Zuck told us about this alleged moment:

Could be a little admiration. Trump took note of Zuckerberg in his press conference today:

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday praised Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for changing how it moderates political content on its three major social media platforms.

Trump, who previously threatened Zuckerberg with life in prison, said his comments might have led to the announcement.

“Probably,” Trump said when asked if Zuckerberg is “directly responding to the threats you’ve made to him in the past.”

Zuckerberg and Trump once had a frosty relationship, but both sides appear to be warming up.

“Honestly, I think they have come a long way, Meta, Facebook” Trump told reporters during a wide-ranging news conference.

Zuckerberg made the major shift on Tuesday, announcing that his company will no longer partner with third-party fact-checkers and will relax moderation policies on topics like gender and immigration.

Zuckerberg is not stupid. He felt the winds change. And, he is not above lifting an idea. Just ask the Winklevoss Twins. If you see Mark trying to crib off of Elon, don’t be shocked.

Conversion or not, don’t trust Zuckerberg at all.
