Leave it to the Great One, radio host and former Reagan administration attorney Mark Levin, to use blunt language in his assessment of the CIA reports presented on Tuesday.
On his December 9 radio show, Levin blasted Senator Dianne Feinstein on the Senate ‘torture report’ of the CIA’s interrogation of terrorist detainees. Referring to the end of Democratic rule in the Senate, Levin said it was a ‘cheap political stunt,’ and “one last turd in the swimming pool.”
Indeed.
Levin was not the only one forcefully slamming the report. Former CIA directors George Tenet, Porter Goss, and General Michael Hayden emphatically responded to the findings, which were conveniently cherry-picked and prepared by a Democratic staff. Calling it “a poorly done and partisan attack,” they accused the Senate of never interviewing them for the report.
The former directors insisted that the interrogation techniques used absolutely saved lives, and they listed several instances of the same:
It led to the capture of senior al Qaeda operatives, thereby removing them from the battlefield.
It led to the disruption of terrorist plots and prevented mass casualty attacks, saving American and Allied lives.
It added enormously to what we knew about al Qaeda as an organization and therefore informed our approaches on how best to attack, thwart and degrade it.
One enormous terrorist plot which the CIA thwarted was the removal of a 17-man Southeast Asian terror group which had been recruited for a “second wave” 9/11-style attack on the West Coast. This group was probably set to use airplanes, unleashing another day of horror on the opposite coast of the United States.
On Fox News Channel’s Hannity, ex-CIA chief José Rodriguez, former Chief of Staff of the Counter Terrorism Center, made some shocking claims about the hypocrisy of the Democratic Senators crying over the plight of those poor terrorist detainees named in the torture report:
“There are about 40 instances where we briefed the Senate and House Intelligence Committees of the program from 2002 to 2009, and we briefed Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi and (Jay) Rockefeller and many others all the time, and we at the outset, at the beginning, back in 2001 — I remember very clearly them telling me, you know, the problem that you guys have is that you are risk averse, you need to use the authorities that we have given you to go out there and destroy this organization, and to kill bin Laden. So we feel that we briefed them, and briefed them throughly, and they are, you know, hypocrites.”
When asked by host Sean Hannity about the number of detainees water boarded, Rodriguez replied, “We water boarded three people during the life of the program — that’s it — three persons. I don’t know where they get the other numbers.” Rodriguez also told Hannity that he, like the former CIA directors, was never interviewed for the report.
Fox News Strategic Analyst and former Army officer Ralph Peters called the torture report the practical equivalent of treason. He wrote:
“Tuesday’s willful, unnecessary and gratuitously destructive release of the one-sided “torture report” at the insistence of outgoing Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. (backed by the White House) amounts to nothing less than providing aid and comfort to the enemy in wartime.”
He warned that this report “may lead to the deaths of more Americans,” as did the Chairman of the House Committee on Intelligence Mike Rogers in his official statement:
“I regret that the Senate Intelligence Committee has publicly released this report. Though it is wholly appropriate for the congressional intelligence committees to conduct rigorous review of classified programs, I fear that publicizing the details of this classified program – which was legal, authorized, and appropriately briefed to the intelligence committees – will only inflame our enemies, risk the lives of those who continue to sacrifice on our behalf, and undermine the very organization we continuously ask to do the hardest jobs in the toughest places.”
Appearing on Fox News Kelly File, Rogers spoke with host Megyn Kelly about how the Senate Democrats, including Dianne Feinstein, were fully aware of the threats, and yet insisted on publishing the torture report.
Former CIA directors Tenet, Goss, and Hayden also warned in their rebuttal:
“Many CIA officers will be concerned that being involved in legally approved sensitive actions can open them to politically driven scrutiny and censure from a future administration.
Foreign intelligence partners will have even less confidence that Washington, already hemorrhaging with leaks, will be able to protect their cooperation from public scrutiny. They will cooperate less with the United States.
Terrorists, having acquired now the largest haven (in the Middle East and North Africa) and string of successes they have had in a decade, will have yet another valuable recruitment tool.
All of this means more danger for the American people and for our allies.”
Also appearing on Tuesday’s Kelly File was the former White House Deputy Press Secretary and overall Obama shill Bill Burton. I could not believe his response to Megyn Kelly when she asked him about the CIA torture report now placing military and intelligence personnel in the terrorists’ crosshairs. He responded that they certainly knew what they were ‘signing up for’ when they entered this sort of service.
What a disgusting answer. Our military and intelligence officials elect to enter harms way by confronting the enemy, not by being double-crossed by their own government.
But the Democrats don’t care. They just want to make sure they get that one last turd into the swimming pool before the Republicans take over the Senate in January. Security be damned.
If there was one wish of mine that could be carried out it would be to take the entire Democrat party apparatus and ship it to ISIS land so these traitorous pigs would get the justice they so richly deserve. Not even the American Communist Party at the height of the Cold War caused as much damage to the nation as the Dem party under its far Left leadership has in just the last 5 years. How anyone who has even one good feeling for this nation can vote for a party that cares only about itself to the point of endangering the national interest and its citizens is beyond my comprehension.
Ditto. Meanwhile, back at the taxpayer-funded mansion, all is well and safe.
The level of hypocrisy has jammed the needle up against the peg and wrapped it around it.
These hyperventilating, panties-in-a-wad harpies (female, male, and ???) are the same slime balls (alternately, slime-without-balls) who were BRIEFED many times on what was planned and done, as well as wondering if there wasn’t more that could be done.
These now-incredulous (golly gee, we never would have guessed) geniuses resolutely let the dogs off the leash, loudly commanded, “Sic ’em!” and then jumped up and down, pom poms waving, while they gleefully cheered, “Go team, go! Fight, team, fight!”
Now they’re collectively on the fainting couch (getting a tad crowded there, it is), ready to throw under the bus those out on the pointy end of the spear who did their expressed bidding.
As they cry out for punishment for the “doers” and those at the CIA who gave the orders, they conveniently ignore that it was they, themselves, who ordered the CIA to do so. If the “foot soldiers” just “carrying out orders” are to be indicted, how about the ultimate order-givers? Does Nuremberg ring a bell?
What all people need to realize is that this “Torture Report” is one ENORMOUS RED HERRING designed to DISTRACT America and the world from ObamAmnesty, Obama-gazi, Obama’s $18 trillion debt and Obama’s Race Wars – All of which started gaining news attention in the last few weeks. The timing of this “Blame Bush Again” diversion is breathtaking – in a very bad way, and an obvious Demorat ploy. Wake up America !
