The new and improved Kamala Harris has been weaponized against racism says our media betters.

Republicans are doing their damnedest to make Vice President Kamala Harris a liability for President Biden’s reelection, not without plenty of help from her over time.

But as they keep doing stupid stuff underscoring their racial insensitivity — the latest being Florida’s and Gov. Ron DeSantis’ claim of a silver lining to slavery — Republicans have handed Harris an apt role: The Democrats’ weapon for calling them on their callousness, and for shoring up the Democratic base while she’s at it.

Harris — the first woman, Black American and person of South Asian descent to be vice president — has had a pretty good week, turning the Republicans’ charge that Democrats are trying to politically indoctrinate America’s youth back onto the Republican Party itself. And she’s put the lie to the claim that the left is forcing a guilt trip on white children simply by fully teaching them about the nation’s sins as well as its triumphs.

By golly, that’s quite the spin. Especially since her polling approval ratings across the board are and have been in the toilet from the get go!

No sooner had the new Florida education and especially history standards been published, than the knives came out. The new education requirements were racist and chock full of white supremacy. Democrats, the media, and even some Republican politicians (Byron Donalds and Tim Scott) seized upon one specific line in the standards and started shouting RACIST! 

Not one single person, not even Kamala took or wanted to take a minute to think things through. Those who were sold into slavery and shipped to the United States often times arrived with no skills to speak of other than possibly hunting and cooking. History shows that many were taught skills in order to become even more useful to their owners. That’s a fact and yes it’s part of the shameful fabric of the history of slavery. 

However, there were many slaves who were taught or figured out how to teach themselves how to READ. Those reading skills most definitely helped them down the road once they were freed. That’s just a simple fact. 

Dr. William B. Allen is the great grandson of slaves. He’s a prominent historian who was involved in updating the Florida education standards. 

Asked if he believes the course should be amended:
“No, I think it would be effectively to erase people’s history.”

He ends with, “I just want to foster and encourage everyone to take the time to read… I think every intellect can understand the language written there if people will only take the time to read it. So, for the Democrats, media, and Kamala to state outright that not one single slave was taught or learned anything is disgraceful. Implying slaves were dumb and stayed dumb goes against historical fact. 

Slaves had many noteworthy skills and talents which made plantations economically self-sufficient. The services of slave blacksmiths, carpenters, coopers, shoemakers, tanners, spinners, weavers and other artisans were all used to keep plantations running smoothly, efficiently, and with little added expense to the owners. These same abilities were also used to improve conditions in the quarters so that slaves developed not only a spirit of self-reliance but experienced a measure of autonomy. These skills, when added to other talents for cooking, quilting, weaving, medicine, music, song, dance, and storytelling, instilled in slaves the sense that, as a group, they were not only competent but gifted. Slaves used their talents to deflect some of the daily assaults of bondage. 

That said, to try and spin her not one but TWO visits to Florida in one week as a “weaponized” and energized Kamala Harris against Republicans is stretching credibility razor thin. Except that’s what they are doing while Kamala has embarrassed herself not once, but twice now regarding the Florida curriculum. 

Understandably, Ron DeSantis is having none of it and is speaking out. He even invited Kamala to a debate on the merits of the curriculum and the Democrat/media insistence that the curriculum whitewashes the history of slavery in this country. 

In a letter obtained by ABC News, DeSantis invited Harris to discuss the new standards with him and Dr. William Allen, one of the architects of the new history curriculum that requires teaching middle school students that Black people got some personal benefits from skills learned while they were enslaved.

“I am prepared to meet as early as Wednesday of this week, but of course want to be deferential to your busy schedule should you already have a trip to the southern border planned for that day,” DeSantis wrote in the letter. “Please let me know as soon as possible. What an example we could set for the nation – a serious conversation on the substance of an important issue! I hope you’re feeling up to it.”

What’s funny is that even with the sarcasm in the letter, people clutched pearls because he DARED write the invitation on official letterhead! Problem is, he was operating as one elected official inviting another elected official to a debate, and there is nothing wrong with that.

So how did Kamala respond? Did she accept? Nope. She’s so energized and weaponized that that rather than rising to the occasion, she’s running away!

She’d rather throw out ad hominem attacks that appeal to emotions and sound bites instead of debating the substance of the actual curriculum itself. 

Kamala can’t take the heat and runs away should be her new campaign slogan.
