Being a snow bunny is hard….but someone’s got to do it and who better than the First Lady to take a few laps in Aspen? Because, after all, life is tough telling people they are “knuckleheads” (read: not as smart as she is) and can’t think for themselves, dictating to the minions what and how they should eat, getting fawned all over by bootlicker celebrities and journalists, posing for those magazine covers and of course, dealing with a husband with narcissistic personality disorder—that, well, FLOTUS needs some time to get away from it all, too.

“Well-deserved” vacation time–to the tune of over $57,000 in travel expenses alone according to Judicial Watch (JW). FLOTUS is no stranger to Aspen, with reports of spending several Presidents’ Day weekends on the slopes. This time, she wanted to keep her little jaunt on the down-low. Unfortunately, for her, the covert attempt at conquering the powder was blown on day two of the vacay when their motorcade was stopped for about 40 minutes due to a traffic accident that closed off the road and she and daughters, Sasha and Malia, were routed around the collision scene.

According to the newly released records, the transportation costs for the four-day trip to Aspen were based on a flight cost of $7,712 an hour for the First Lady, her daughters, and support personnel in the Gulfstream aircraft. Not included were the attendant costs for U.S. Secret Service personnel, accommodations, meals, rental cars, lift tickets for skiing at Buttermilk, and related expenses. (My guess is that she didn’t stop at the local schools to check out their school lunch menus.) But that’s not all, while the Obama ladies were getting in their lefts and rights, private lessons and sneaking to the front of the lift lines, POTUS (cue the violins in here) spent his President’s Day weekend separate from his beloved wife and daughters—enduring hardship, no doubt and playing a few rounds of golf (I know, big surprise) to chase the blues away in California.  According to figures obtained by JW, President Obama’s VC-25A jet, better known as Air Force One, costs $228,288 per hour while it is in the air. Hardship as it was, our President, who never misses a television or photo op took to the airwaves to wish his wife a Happy Valentine’s Day that weekend.

But, you do understand that Presidents and their families need vacations, too, right? That the vacation is just part of the American dream? The Obamas are part of that American dream—they’ve earned it—and worked hard. Remember these rich highlights from the 2012 Democratic National Convention?

The piece goes on to talk about “sacrifice” and “dignity” and “honesty”, integrity and humility.”

Struggles? I would hardly call a luxury vacation (one of many) to a winter hot spot and a weekend golf outing in Palm Springs a struggle. How quickly they have forgotten—(but in truth, I think they did not have a clue in the first place.) In the Obama’s immediate world–the rules others should follow to achieve the “American Dream” do not apply. There is no such thing as sacrifice, dignity, integrity, honesty and there most certainly is no humility. Humility does not rack up $57,000 in travel expenses on someone else’s dime!

Pass the cookies, the cheeseburgers and the deep-fried butter—this “Mom-in-Chief” needs a vacation from the fallacy.
