Jerry Nadler – Ol’ Poopy Drawers Won’t Run Again

Representative Jerry Nadler, Democrat of New York, also known as Ol’ Poopy Drawers, has announced he will not run for office again next year. Get it? Poopy Drawers won’t run again. Well, I am really a five year old with great typing skills and I thought it was funny. Honestly though, unlike Dianne Feinstein who voted postmortem, the Congressman does have someone in in life who loves him or a consultant told him he couldn’t win. More likely that he can’t win. He doesn’t seem that loveable.

Last night, the New York Times had the big news about Nadler:

Representative Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat who has been one of Congress’s leading liberal voices for three decades, will not seek re-election next year, heeding a call for generational change roiling his party.

The decision will mark the close of a 34-year congressional career that put Mr. Nadler at the center of major civil rights battles and three presidential impeachments. It will also almost certainly touch off a crowded primary fight over a rare open Democratic seat in the heart of Manhattan.

In 2022, Ol’ Poopy Drawers beat colleague Carolyn Maloney for the seat after redistricting cost New York City a seat. A New York Judge drew the new district which combined Jerry’s and Carolyn’s seats. Maloney is a year older than Jerry but when last seen in public she was aging better. According to the article, Poops is doing this unselfishly for Democracy:

In a recent interview in his downtown Manhattan office, Mr. Nadler, 78, said he hesitated to step aside when he believes that President Trump is threatening the foundations of democracy. But he said he had been persuaded it was time for a changing of the guard.

“Watching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect that,” Mr. Nadler said, adding that a younger successor “can maybe do better, can maybe help us more.”

Mr. Nadler, who is both the longest-serving New Yorker and Jewish member of the House, had already been swept up in an intraparty reckoning over aging leaders. He was forced to give up his House Judiciary Committee leadership at the beginning of the term when it became clear a younger, more energetic colleague would beat him. Back home, he was facing a 26-year-old primary challenger.

Yup, consultant told him it was time to go.

If you are very, very young, you may be wondering why I make fun of Nadler calling him Ol’ Poopy Drawers, Poopy Pants or Dung Shorts. It was back in September of 2020, that the King of Adult Diapers awkwardly sidled Stage Right after he messed himself standing next to Nancy Pelosi:

That might have been a clue to retire but he put up a real fight against Maloney.

At the end of the NY Times article, Mr. Poopy Pants claims he is in great health. A year ago March, he was attended to by former NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio:

But, he is the picture of health:

And Mr. Nadler, who spent decades struggling with obesity before losing weight, reported with delight that he was in fine health. In fact, his doctor had just recommended he try to eat more vanilla ice cream for calcium.

Right!

Mr. Nadler and President Trump have been in each other’s crosshairs for more than 40 years:

Mr. Nadler reached the peak of national prominence during Mr. Trump’s first term. The two men had sparred since the 1980s over Manhattan development projects. (Trump once called him “one of the most egregious hacks in contemporary politics.”) As Judiciary Committee chairman, Mr. Nadler became one of the most powerful proponents of impeaching Mr. Trump.

He ultimately succeeded, steering articles of impeachment through his committee in 2019. But his uncompromising views and unwillingness to stick to talking points irked then Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who sidelined him at key moments in favor of the more politically deft Adam B. Schiff.

Mr. Nadler said last week that he was now fearful Mr. Trump was bent on undoing much of what he had fought for in Congress.

Pelosi went with Schiff because he lies well. Nadler has too many tells. As for Trump undoing what Nadler fought for, what was Jerry’s big legislation? That’s okay. He’s more of a “voice” than an actual legislator.

His retirement is still big news:

Yes, Nadler did this interview last week and it was embargoed until last night. It was welcome news to close out the Summer.

Better and better.

Watched Guttfeld’s ‘tribute’ to Nadler last night. Was really uncomfortable.

As an old fart, looked like he is dying. Old, overweight, and moving poorly all but guarantees that when you go out, you go out poorly, sooner rather than later.

While I despise everything he is and has done. He abused his office horribly, But as an old fart, whatever is in his future is going to be Hobbseian, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.

Never forget the partisan ugliness he visited on Our Side of the political wars while Pelosi’s Justice Committee Chair in the House for a couple decades. Likewise, never forget that he is an actively dying fatman with the appropriate Putting out his fire relieving yourself on the fire, while appropriate and wildly demanded, is not going to get us where we need to be. Cheers –
