Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) appeared on the new Joy Reid MSNBC program, The Reid Out, and asserted that President Donald Trump doesn’t care about the American people. He only cares about himself, according to Jeffries, and staying in power. And, that my friends, is the nicest thing the Brooklyn and Queens Representative has ever said about Trump.

First, before we look at the video, a little background on Hakeem Jeffries. Jeffries was first elected to Congress in 2013 and represents parts of Brooklyn and Queens. Just so you know, that’s next to Bronx where our buddy Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Jeffries is considered a rising star and was selected by Speaker Pelosi to be one of the seven House Managers in the Impeachment Trial of President Donald Trump.

In 2017, Hakeem Jeffries claimed that every racist in America voted for Donald Trump:

And many of us are wondering, why were so many people who worship at the altar of white supremacy drawn to Donald Trump’s campaign? What was it about this individual that so many folks dripping in hatred flocked to his candidacy?

That’s not to say that every American who voted for Donald Trump is a racist. We do know that every racist in America voted for Donald Trump. That’s a problem. But this president has a responsibility to address the rise in hate crimes that have taken place on his watch, whether or not his election is directly connected to it.

Is it any wonder that San Fran Nan picked Jeffries as a House Manager. His hatred of Trump and his voters knows no bounds. And, now in the age of Covid-19, Jeffries will use that to damn Trump. Let’s go to the video tape:

Of course, Hakeem Jeffries starts out with cheap snark about this being the most significant of the 20,000 lies Donald Trump has told. Jeffries isn’t clever enough to come up with something clever. Jeffries then says that Trump only cares about his electoral survival. Please God. Let him survive electorally. Despite everything, I get the feeling that Donald Trump is the only thing that stands between us and the flood.

What set off Jeffries and Reid was that more of Trump’s staff have contracted Covid-19:

National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien has been the most high-profile member of Trump’s inner circle to test positive for COVID-19. Others include a White House valet, a spokeswoman for Vice President Mike Pence and an adviser on Trump’s campaign.

And, then they go on to the $600 per month. I cannot tell you how much this annoys the living daylights out of me. The Republicans are evil because they don’t think we should continue giving an extra $600 per month to the unemployed. Other than the fact that we are in debt up to our ear lobes and we don’t have the money. The extra stipend keeps people from going back to work. Even the Washington Post knows extending the benefit is a bad idea:

Recipients under both state unemployment insurance and the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program (covering those, such as the self-employed, put out of work by the novel coronavirus but not qualifying for traditional aid) are eligible for a federally funded $600 weekly bonus as part of the Cares Act. Virtually anyone in business will tell you that this $600 per week bonus is discouraging work.

For example, many quick-service restaurants are experiencing improved sales in part because they have drive-through windows allowing customers to purchase food with minimal human contact. Their problem is staffing the restaurants. A Southern California restaurant operator with good sales told me recently that finding workers in Orange County is nearly impossible. He noted that some prospective employees have asked whether jobs will still be available in August. The $600 weekly bonus is set to expire at the end of July.

And yet, Joy Reid and Hakeem Jeffries are so assured of their own economic worldview that they do must condemn Trump and the Republican Party for not wishing to print more money.

How enlightened they think they are. Insulting all of us who voted for Trump and at the same time sinking our children and grandchildren into a debt that can never be solved.
