Friday Fiction: 100 Word Challenge

A quote: “Most people would succeed in small things if they were not troubled with great ambitions.” ~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“I hope you’re not considering a career as a writer.”

I’d like to say it didn’t break me. That I told her off and succeeded despite her. No, I was crushed. I stopped scribbling out tiny adventures in one steno pad after another and went on with life.

It was my sons who found the pads and published them to great success.

She taught for many years and I wonder how many other dreams she strangled before they were born.

*********************************

Now, it’s your turn.
