Feminists Decide Pinterest is Against the Rules Now, Too

So the newest thing in the rather lengthy list of things that piss feminists off? Pinterest. That’s right. It’s got women interested in things like cooking, and working out, and decorating their house. And well, feminists simply cannot have that!

the site’s popularity highlights an uncomfortable reality: Pinterest’s user-generated content, which overwhelmingly emphasizes recipes, home decor, and fitness and fashion tips, feels like a reminder that women still seek out the retrograde, materialistic content that women’s magazines have been hawking for decades — and that the internet was supposed to help overcome.

Pinterest — which drives more traffic to marthastewart.com and marthastewartweddings.com than Facebook and Twitter combined — has become impossible to ignore, even as critics deride it as “the Mormon housewife’s image bookmarking service of choice.” But it’s much more than a collection of pretty pictures. In fact, the site seems like one big user-curated women’s magazine — from the pre-internet era. Sites like Jezebel were created as an antidote to women’s print magazines, which are rife with diet, fitness and dressing tips. The internet has for many years now been thought of as a place where women can find smarter, meatier reads just for them.

Instead, there’s Pinterest: heavy on recipes (diet and otherwise), inspirational quotes, exercise tips, and aspirational clothes and homes. Kitchen porn, cupcake porn, bracelet porn — any kind of eye candy you can think of is probably on Pinterest, waiting for the next Pinner to covet it enough to re-pin it. People don’t go to Pinterest for articles, they go there to scrapbook every imaginable physical aspect of their dream lives, right down to the Mason jar candle holders you really hope to get around to DIY-ing for your next cocktail party.

On Pinterest, you’d never know that sites like Jezebel and Feministing had hit the internet.

Oh, Heavens, no! So the majority of women are more interested in things like fashion and cooking than they are in discussing why 50 one-night stands in a week is A-OK and how all men hate them? Say it ain’t so! I am shocked, shocked, I tell you!!

What is it with feminists and wanting to decide how women live their lives? Pinterest does not randomly put things on their users’ boards. The users decide what they like and don’t like, so all of the things that are being derided here are things that women chose. And guess what? Most women are interested in cooking, clothes, and making their house look pretty. But that reminds feminists too much of the terrible, awful, horrible days of the happy housewife. So women aren’t supposed to be interested in those things anymore, because they said so.

And here’s another thing: why do feminists attack healthy food recipes and exercise regimens? Because, dear God no, women might lose weight and get healthier?? I understand that the media presents a warped version of beauty, but that does not mean the answer is encouraging women to be obese and unhealthy. Like it or not, harpies, being thin is healthier for you. And what gets you thinner? Eating well and working out. But by God, we can’t have women doing either of those two things, right?

These feminazis try so hard to recondition women to be something we’re not. We aren’t allowed to want to stay at home, raise our children, enjoy cooking, go shopping, decorate our house, want to improve our appearance… or pretty much anything that’s considered “feminine”. And even though women reject this over and over and over again, they keep pushing. They keep attacking women simply for being women.

All Pinterest shows is that women enjoy feminine things, that they want to be attractive, and that feminists? As much as they claim to speak for women, they don’t give a rat’s ass about what women actually feel, think, and want.

I totally love this post!!! God forbid women actually do things that make them feminine, things that will encourage family values and creativity.

Nice one! I think I’m going to pin something here, just to piss off a feminist!
Why don’t the feminazi go after Michelle Obama, who is one massive fashion and diet and gardening clearing house.

Hey, I’m going to create a pin board “Frumpy feminist to femme fatale: Tips and Tricks” 😉
