Here we go again. After a deadly shooting by an unhinged white supremacist assbag that left 11 people dead, including a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor, at the Tree of Life Synagogue yesterday, some usual leftist suspects took to their respective soapboxes to call for the disarmament of those who didn’t commit the atrocity.

Not more than a few hours after the horror ended, Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz took to Twitter to push his “universal background checks” gun control agenda. This was before we knew where neo-Nazi turd Robert Bowers got his guns, and whether he did so legally.

We now know that Bowers, despite his unhinged derp on social media, was not known to police. He had no criminal record, and his only run-in with police appears to have been a traffic citation in 2015.

Just how a “universal background check” – which is really Democrat code for outlawing private gun sales, because FFL dealers are already required to perform background checks on all firearms purchases – would have stopped Bowers from legally purchasing firearms is anyone’s guess. Not that Democrats want to actually stop violence! No, because outlawing private gun sales would quash their disarmament agenda of gaining power at the people’s expense, destroying their ability to not only stand up to tyrannical governments, but also to dispose of their private property as they please.

As long as there’s violence, there’s justification for them to push their disarmament agenda. Fact.

Ben Nelson (D-umbass, FL) had a froth-flecked Twitter seizure just a short time after Schatz shat out his pile of stupid, calling for an “assault weapons” ban.

Bowers had a license to carry, and his firearms were purchased legally – not on the streets – since he would have had to pass background checks both to purchase the firearms and to obtain the carry license. There’s no amount of gun control – other than complete disarmament (which is really what the Democrats desire) – that could have stopped those purchases. At the time Nelson tweeted his usual “assault weapons are the debbil” gun grabber garbage, we knew very little about the incident, including where Bowers got his guns, whether they were legally purchased, and what weapons were actually used in the shooting, confirming that Nelson was simply using the incident to push his tyrannical agenda.

This is especially glaring when we consider the government’s own research that found “assault weapons” are rarely used in crimes, and that criminals prefer something a bit less unwieldy.

Research by Wright and Rossi in the 1980’s found that most criminals prefer guns that are easily concealable, large caliber, and well made. Their studies also found that the handguns used by the felons interviewed were similar to the handguns available to the general public, except that the criminals pre- ferred larger caliber guns.

Three months ago, the synagogue’s rabbi Hazzan Myers lamented America’s “gun violence” problem and the government’s failure to address it.

Despite continuous calls for sensible gun control and mental health care, our elected leaders in Washington knew that it would fade away in time,” Myers wrote in a blog post in July, titled “We Deserve Better,” that referenced the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

“Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in the mid-term elections, I fear that that the status quo will remain unchanged, and school shootings will resume. I shouldn’t have to include in my daily morning prayers that God should watch over my wife and daughter, both teachers, and keep them safe. Where are our leaders?”

With all due respect to the rabbi, did he forget that it was the government “leaders” who demanded Jews to be unilaterally disarmed in Nazi Germany, leaving them defenseless against abuses by their own government?

In 1931, Germany’s Weimar Republic discovered plans for a Nazi takeover in which Jews would be denied food and all persons refusing to surrender their guns within 24 hours would be executed.

The plans were the handiwork of Hitler lieutenant Werner Best, a future top Gestapo official. In reaction, the government authorized the registration of all firearms and the confiscation thereof, if required for “public safety.” The Interior Minister warned that the records must not fall into the hands of any extremist group.

In 1933, the ultimate extremist group, Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers’ Party, seized power and used the records to identify, disarm and attack both political opponents and Jews. Constitutional rights were suspended, and mass searches and seizures ensued for guns and dissident publications. Police revoked gun licenses of all those who were deemed not “politically reliable” to Nazism.

If there are any people in this world who should know and understand the folly of relying on the government to protect them, it’s the Jews. Those who still call on inept, opportunistic politicians to pass laws to ostensibly stop violence have forgotten their history, or fail to understand it.

It would do us well to remember a few things.

The last “assault” weapons ban did not reduce violence. Even PolitiFact – not exactly a bastion of conservative thought – called bullshit on the attempt to link the expiration of that stupidity and an alleged “increase” in mass shootings. Also let’s remember when the Columbine massacre took place and the ineffectiveness of the ban in stopping that particular event. Disarmament is not the answer. The enterprising criminal will find a way around the liberals’ disarmament tactics

The vast majority of guns used in crimes are obtained illegally – obtained on the street, traded, or borrowed. This is according to the government’s own statistics – not mine.

More recent reporting confirms this is still the case, and it’s not surprising. Street guns are cheaper, more disposable, don’t require a background check, and are easier and quicker to obtain. If you were an enterprising criminal, would you prefer going into a store, sitting around, waiting for a background check, or worse being denied your puchase because of your criminal past, and having the record of your purchase or attempted purchase on file for all eternity, and paying hundreds of dollars for a new pistol, or would you rather meet your dealer on the corner and quickly slip him some cash and obtain your gun within minutes with no record of your transaction?

Maybe there are some idiot criminals where Schatz lives, but most are smart enough to know that obtaining a gun illegally is much easier and quicker than navigating the bureaucratic hoops at a gun store.

And finally, let’s remember the millions of times armed citizens have stopped would-be murderers, including at the New Life Church where Jeanne Assam stopped a mass murder, confirming President Trump’s recent comment that an armed guard could have helped stop the massacre and that disarmament of the law-abiding is not the answer

Armed citizens do stop murderous thugs. The numbers vary as to how many times this happens annually, and statistics are misleading because if merely brandishing a gun can stop a criminal in his track, the would-be crime is never reported, skewing the numbers.

Disarming innocent people and making it more difficult for them to purchase defensive tools will make for a more vulnerable society and will paint a big, red target on the backs of law-abiding citizens, giving criminals just what they want – a bigger stable of victims.

Of course, Democrats care about nothing but pushing their disarmament agenda, thinking that maybe this time it won’t mean political suicide.

Let’s hope they’re wrong.
