The media has been largely ignoring the crisis at the border or blaming it on Republicans. Our brave agents are feeling “defeated”. The Supreme Court has given the Biden Administration a 24 hour reprieve on ending Title 42. The next wave of illegal immigrants is here.

Donald Trump ran for President on the promise of building the wall and curtailing illegal immigration. While the Democrats were fighting him and the spineless Republicans were contemplating their own navels, illegal immigration spike. In March of 2019, Jeh Johnson, Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary weighed in:

“When I was in office at Kirstjen Nielsen’s job, at her desk, I’d get to work around 6:30 in the morning and there’d be my intelligence book, sitting on my desk,” Mr. Johnson told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” crew on Friday. “The PDB and also the apprehension numbers from the day before. And I’d look at them every morning — and my staff will tell you if it was under 1,000 apprehensions the day before that was a relatively good number. And if it was above 1,000 that was a relatively bad number and I was going to be in a bad mood the whole day.”

Mr. Johnson then pivoted to what he now sees as a giant conundrum.

“On Tuesday there were 4,000 apprehensions,” he said. “I know that a thousand overwhelms the system. I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like, so we are truly in a crisis.”

According to NBC News, for FY 2022, there were 2.76 million border crossings, that is an average of 7,561 daily. That is unsustainable. Last week, Bill Melugin reported that possibly the largest group ever crossed into El Paso. Bussed in from Juarez, Mexico by the Mexican government, at 8,000 per day:

Because we had a son stationed at Fort Bliss, my husband and I have been in the El Paso airport a lot. It was pristine. It did not look like this:

I could spend hours telling you the damage being done to local schools, communities, ranchers and infrastructure, let alone the diseases and criminals allowed into the country. It is horrifying. I seesaw back and forth wondering whether the Bidenites are unconsciously incompetent or intentionally destroying our country. I am going to focus on the agents of the Border Patrol.

Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol talked to Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer today. From MSN:

The head of the Border Patrol union is warning that agents, already overwhelmed by the ongoing crisis at the southern border, are feeling “completely defeated” ahead of the ending of Title 42 this week — amid widespread fears of an even bigger surge once the public health order ends.

“We feel completely and totally defeated,” National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told Fox News Digital in an interview.

“You can go to any station right now, and there’s just not a whole lot of talk among agents,” he said. “It used to be that there was a lot of camaraderie, a lot of joking, people just pretty happy doing their jobs now. There’s just nothing.”

The Title 42 public health order — which has allowed for the rapid return of hundreds of thousands of migrants at the southern border since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic — will expire on Wednesday due to a court ruling that found the order’s use unlawful.

In American Greatness, the great Victor Davis Hanson wrote “10 Steps to Save America”. On the border he wrote:

We no longer have a southern border. There have been 5 million illegal border crossings just since Joe Biden took office. He intentionally destroyed immigration law for cheap political advantage. Nearly 50 million current American residents were not born in the United States. Well over 20 million—and perhaps 30 million—are illegal aliens. Old melting-pot efforts at assimilation and integration eroded into the salad-bowl metaphor that has just become tribalism—even as intermarriage is at an all-time high.

The Left brags that “demography is destiny” as it cheers the changes in the electorate aimed at ensuring its political dominance. And simultaneously, it smears conservatives who agree with its triumphalism as “great replacement theory” conspiracists.

Yet we finally found a solution in 2019-2020. Had we continued replacing rickety border fencing with an effective wall and then completed it along the entire border, had we stopped catch-and-release, had we continued demanding that refugee status be obtained before entry, had we forced Mexico and Central American governments to stop exporting human capital and subjected them to taxes on more than $60 billion in annual remittances (along with trade penalties) for their complicity with the situation at the border, had we continued to deport those who entered illegally, had we returned to assimilation and integration on the theory any who entered America did so because they wanted to become Americans, then a desired legal, meritocratic, and diverse immigration policy might easily have assimilated and absorbed perhaps 200,000 skilled and legal immigrants per year.

You could give the Destroyers in the Biden Administration all the time in the world and they would still do nothing. Speaking of time, John Roberts of the Supreme Court gave them an additional 24 hours before Title 42 expires:

It won’t help and the border agents will feel even more defeated.
