David Hogg Gets Another College Rejection Letter, Still Doesn’t Get It

Much has been written here about David Hogg – the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student who became a hero to the gun grabbers because of his vocal, ignorant antics supporting their cause, and who continues to be an object of ridicule for the rest of us with half a brain, because every time he opens his mouth he demonstrates his ignorance about policy, about history, about political philosophy, about natural rights, and about the Constitution.

Normally, I wouldn’t criticize kids too harshly. I recognize they have much to learn, and that eventually most of them study, work, and gain life experience. But Hogg is a different case.

From the moment the bodies were carried away from the scene of the carnage, Hogg has stood in the blood of his classmates and used their tragedy to gain attention for himself. There were television appearances, there were rallies and protests, and there were speaking engagements. And every time, Hogg demonstrated his lack of knowledge and understanding about the fundamental issues he thought himself qualified to discuss.

He and his pals claimed moral authority, publicly proclaimed themselves to be the “experts” on firearm policy because they hid in a closet while a madman murdered their classmates. They consistently seek out national attention, thinking that their tragedy will shield them from criticism and that their admittedly heartbreaking experience will give them credibility and allow them to take what others have worked their asses off to achieve.

Recently, David Hogg tweeted that yet another college has rejected his application. One of the schools – University of California San Diego – flat out rejected him, while the other – University of Central Florida – deferred him.

Perhaps if David had spent more time going to school and actually learning about the policies he loudly and ignorantly condemns instead of attention whoring in the national media, these schools would actually consider taking him.

Perhaps if David didn’t act like an entitled prima donna and didn’t rudely hang up on the President of the United States, and then proudly admit his puerile antic on national television, colleges would actually accept him.

Perhaps if David actually showed a bit of maturity instead of asking “what if our politicians weren’t the bitch of the NRA?” in a national ad like a punk who can’t show just a little bit of respect to adults – people who are part of the legislative branch of this country, and who can’t keep himself from cursing in the national media, he would actually get into college.

Perhaps if David was just a little more professional and a little less hysterical, colleges would line up to take him.

But no, David apparently thought that his “activism” would be enough.

He apparently thought that going to school, taking exams, learning, and putting in some effort to show the colleges to which he applied that he is a hardworking, balanced, mature individual wasn’t necessary as long as he continued to walk that path littered with the bodies of his classmates and stood on their corpses to gain national attention.

He apparently thought that as long as he continued to exploit the tragedy and the national attention, hard work just wasn’t necessary.

And worse yet, he’s encouraging more kids to ditch classes during even more walkouts!

Gosh! What college wouldn’t want a student like that?

And instead of engaging in a bit of introspection, Hogg has decided to take a year off an focus on the “midterms.” Not schoolwork, mind you, but more politics. Because, school doesn’t matter. Grades don’t matter. Getting a diploma doesn’t matter. Becoming educated and informed doesn’t matter, because HE’S CHANGING THE WORLD!!!

You see, this is all about Hogg’s ego. It’s all about the attention he’s getting. It certainly doesn’t seem to be about continuing to learn and evolve as a spokesman for his cause (no matter how ignorant) and a human being. He wants the unearned. Much like he used his classmates’ tragedies to propel himself to fame, he’s now expecting colleges to accept him because he’s famous.

That’s not how any of this works, and I wonder why David’s parents haven’t stepped in yet to provide their son with a course correction.

Maybe it’s time for David to reevaluate his life choices and start working to deserve and achieve, instead of letting opportunistic adults use him as their political marionette and thinking that it’s an easy way to fame and glory.

In other words, maybe it’s time to grow up.

I can envision a future for this SJW wearing a balaclava and a ANTIFA logo tee shirt while throwing molotov cocktails at police all for the cause.

I have grave doubts about him. I doubt his age.

His mom was a producer at CNN and his dad is retired Federal Bureau of Incompetence; this little fascist fruit didn’t fall far from the tree!

Remember: whatever high school transcripts he submitted were from before the shootings. Colleges are judging his applications based on his GPA and ACTs/SATs from prior to him becoming famous.

The University of Central Florida’s acceptance rate is 49%. For Mr Hogg to be wait-listed means that he is in the bottom half of all applicants to a middle-rank university, and he’s a prospective in-state student.

  • I love the fact that he tweeted out that another college rejected him What is it with people attempting to let everyone know that they failed? On minor things, like, “hey, I totally blew it on this dinner”, but big things. I guess it’s true, everyone wants to be a Victim nowadays.

Very true, in the past society valued achievment. Now we value victim hood and hold up our failures high! #metoo moment

On the contrary, I don’t understand why schools aren’t falling all over themselves to accept this marquee SJW.

Hogg should be a shoe-in at a SJW school like Berkley or Stanford

The President of the United States is considerably ruder than David Hogg. Not enough people hang up on him — on Donald Trump, not Hogg. As for Laura Ingraham, in the first place, she’s wrong that Hogg was whining, and in the second, she gleefully made fun of him with all the class of mildewed wallpaper, no doubt thinking to herself, “Just a brat, no way he can come back at me.” In other words, she’s a coward.
Hogg didn’t respond with insults or ineffectual sass. He published a list of her sponsors online. She forgot that kids these days are more media savvy than their elders. The sponsors started dropping Ingraham, after which she hastened to apologize, “in the spirit of Holy Week.” Sure it was. There’d have been no apology in Holy Week or any other time, if she hadn’t suddenly started losing sponsors. If she had refused to back down one quarter-inch, I still wouldn’t agree with her, but I’d have more respect for her.

Someone should tell this boy, and his fellows the story of Cindy Sheehan … what happened to her and how she was used by progressive liberal Democrats & their media lapdogs in the days of GWB. These kids’ 15 minutes will be up soon, and they’ll be kicked to the curb when something new comes along to be politically exploited in a new way, with new tools like themselves.

  • GWB says:

Normally, I wouldn’t criticize kids too harshly.
If he didn’t stand up claiming to know so much and telling me how awful I am, then I would give him some benefit of the doubt. It’s his arrogance, more than his ignorance, that ticks me off.

I wonder why David’s parents haven’t stepped in yet to provide their son with a course correction.
Because they think this is *wonderful*. This is exactly the sort of thing they believe in: the pig-ignorant and shameless “leading” the way to their progressive Utopia.

I don’t read too much into a couple of college rejections. He’s singing the PC collectivist anthem, and will be rewarded. I seem to recall that the witless broad whose arrest for tearing down an oppressive Confederate statue was rewarded with scholarship bucks from her school. The Hogg kid would be right at home ate Evergreen State, where he could join his fellow snowflakes in ramping up the outrage over Steve Martin’s 40-yr old King Tut parody.

I think all of you including the writer have been too harsh. True Hogg is an arrogant snotty nosed kid. But he’s just that. This is his first time around the block and although he has made some mistakes, you have to appreciate his passion and willingness to put himself out there knowing he’s going to be run over with criticism. He will make an exceptional activist one day if he can keep his priorities strait……….

    • GWB says:

No. He’s doing this as a true believer. And he’s doing his damnedest to bully folks (that’s the SJW way). Too harsh? Even STFU and STFD isn’t too strong for this activist twit.
His priorities are already way wrong: they’re anti-freedom and anti-republic.

Maybe, some day, after he’s suffered a bit, he might actually turn out to be a decent human being. But I doubt it will be anytime soon.

  • PJ says:

Of course he’s going to work on the midterms! The Democrats are using him. They will hold up his grief to win votes. Shame on them for using a kid, and shame on his parents too. They should never have allowed all this.

Followers never get nowhere in life. Bunch of pussies.

  • Mary O'Toole says:

You are the one distorting the facts. David Hogg is not a gun grabber. He is advocating for a ban on assault weapons not a ban on all weapons. There is a big difference there. Marines have to train over 100 hours before they are permitted to carry an assault rifle yet in Florida and many other states a teenager can buy one easier than getting a drivers license. Gun manufactures use the NRA to disparge sane gun owners who want sensible gun laws. NRA elite spokespersons are paid 5 million a year. They dont care about public safety when they fly in private jets and chauffered cars. Also he is a teenager. I saw him in person at a speaking event.

    • Scott says:

You Ma’am are an idiot! I have no idea where you get your “100 hours ” BS, but as a military vet, I can say with authority that your numbers are shit.. second, what marines train with IS an assault rifle, what this duped moron wants to ban are not. ( look up a definition from a reliable source, not some leftist trash) third, none of us had to go through a background check to get a drivers license (hell, in some stats, you don’t even have to be here legally!!) so once again, your argument is shit, fourth, I am one of over 5 MILLION AMERICAN CITIZENS that make up the NRA… we are not shills for anyone… try looking at Soros for that kind of elitist crap you accuse the NRA of, and lastly, he, like all other leftists advocating “sensible gun control” are gun grabbers! try reading the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, this time, doing so for actual comprehension, and follow that up with the Federalist Papers, and other writings of the Founding Fathers… once you have an education on the subject beyond the lies from the leftist “educational system” feel free to come back and join in an adult conversation. Until then, please go away!

    • GWB says:

Actually, being for an “assault weapons” ban IS being a “gun grabber”. And the definition of “assault weapon” currently in vogue some places includes all semiautomatic weapons, including handguns.

Where in the world are you getting the number about Marine training? Of course, that isn’t a requirement for just carrying a loaded weapon, but for carrying one in a combat unit where there are lots of people with firearms moving around together and are being shot at, as well. So not really the same thing.

As to the idiocy of “easier than getting a driver’s license”, you do realize that keeping and bearing arms is a RIGHT, correct? And, that right along with driver training, we used to have firearms training in schools?
And, no, a “teenager” CANNOT buy a firearm, if you mean “someone above the age of 12 and not yet an adult”. If you – like all those people who count 18yo and 19yo gangbangers as “children killed by gunshot” – include adults in that, then yes, they CAN buy rifles. They are currently – and unconstitutionally so – prevented from purchasing handguns.

What does “public safety” have to do with “private jets and chauffeured cars”? That’s an idiotic statement. If you mean they are protected by bodyguards, you might be right. I know that several of the NRA spokespersons certainly do not have bodyguards, though – because they guard themselves.

You saw him at an event, so you know he’s a teenager? WTF? Well, his being a child (that is, below the age of majority, where you become an adult) is exactly one of the prime reasons so many of us are criticizing him. There’s good reason why the Victorians had the adage “children should be seen and not heard.” Hogg is exhibit #1.

The Leftist elete being so out of touch with real America don’t seem to realize that we love and charish our youth, but we don’t seek their advice on important matters, nor do we accept disrespect for adults. The more this kid talks, the more NRA memberships and guns sold. He may have a future in Lefist Journalism, but I suspect he’ll get dumped after his usefulness fades, and the arrogance that was bolstered throughout this fiasco will not serve him well in his future. Shame on the media for exploiting and using him as a useful idiot for their cause.

  • LolaS says:

Wait a minute! You’re bringing attention to yourself out of this entire thing and you wanna criticize someone who was actually involved in the incident because he’s fighting for school safety? GTFOH! Your own bio claims you’re an adult who hasn’t grown up yet. Your entire piece is filled with 100% ignorance. He literally was within walking distance of harm’s way, but your fat ass thinks he has no business speaking out for students all around the country to be safe from being shot?! Go away, already. You claim you’re a “lover of freedom”, but we really know that only means freedom for nutjobs like you to criticize people who actually want to make a difference in the world. You would deny freedom from teenagers who are stepping up in the public eye to stop gun violence. You’re a disgrace to America.

    • GWB says:

Oh criminy, another one who doesn’t understand hypocrisy.

Your entire piece is filled with 100% ignorance.
Now, this isn’t hypocrisy, but it is certainly irony, given that you have absolutely not a fact in your comment* and you really do nothing but name-call.
Based on that evidence, I’m going to guess… you’re a teenager, aren’t you?

He literally was within walking distance of harm’s way
Wow, within *walking distance* of harm. That defines a good portion of my adult life. And being present gives him absolutely NO authority to speak on the subject other than to provide eyewitness testimony (oh, wait, he couldn’t even do that, since he wasn’t actually there, just within “walking distance”).

Look, stop with the idiocy of victim=moral authority. It’s stupid. It’s unjust. It’s immoral.

I, for one, am very glad to call Marta a fellow citizen.
