Covid Commission Chair Jeffrey Sachs has a unique history of praising China while slamming U.S. policies.

“The chairman of a blue-ribbon commission working with the United Nations and the World Health Organization to investigate the origins of the coronavirus pandemic has a history of praising and working with China while criticizing the U.S. government.

Jeffrey Sachs, a Columbia economist, formed the Lancet COVID-19 Commission, affiliated with the prominent British medical journal of the same name, in July 2020 to investigate the virus’s origins.”

Keep in mind, this is the same Lancet Commission group that published and then retracted studies bashing Hydroxychloroquine as an effective tool in combating this Wuhan flu virus. Turns out, it IS effective if given to those diagnosed early with the virus. It isn’t effective against the virus for those who are deathly ill with it.

But I digress. Jeffrey Sachs has a long history of anti-U.S. animus, and has utilized his position as a Columbia University professor to prop up China on multiple occasions.

“The US is a force for division, not for cooperation,” he told me in an interview with BBC’s Asia Business Report.
“It’s a force for trying to create a new cold war with China. If this takes hold – if that kind of approach is used, then we won’t go back to normal, indeed we will spiral into greater controversy and greater danger in fact.”

That was just last year. In fact, he also callously dismissed China’s horrific human rights violations against Muslim Uighurs, which we’ve written about here, here, and here.

Here is what Sachs had to say in his OWN newsletter last August in a piece titled: “America’s Unholy Crusade Against China”

“Last month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered an anti-China speech that was extremist, simplistic, and dangerous. If biblical literalists like Pompeo remain in power past November, they could well bring the world to the brink of a war that they expect and perhaps even seek.

NEW YORK – Many white Christian evangelicals in the United States have long believed that America has a God-given mission to save the world. Under the influence of this crusading mentality, US foreign policy has often swerved from diplomacy to war. It is in danger of doing so again.

Last month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo launched yet another evangelical crusade, this time against China. His speech was extremist, simplistic, and dangerous – and may well put the US on a path to conflict with China.”

He went on in great detail as to how our evangelical roots are driving the animosity towards China, and how our OWN history of mass enslavement is oh so much worse than anything that China “might” be doing. 

THIS is the guy who is leading the commission to figure out the origins of the Wuhan Covid flu rot. This is the guy who is supposed to be working to find out how this started so that the world can continue to find solutions to this virus. 

When you go into China with a bias…towards your own country, and have authored paper blaming President Trump for the Covid deaths here, how “objective” is he? Answer: he isn’t. 

Sachs is a huge fan of Huawei and has continually slammed the U.S. and other countries who have, rightly so, identified Huawei as a major intelligence threat to the world. 

The Lancet Commission was ‘graciously’ granted permission to go into China and study the origins of the virus..a solid YEAR after the world first discovered that there was such a thing. 

Stop and think about that for a minute. World scientists should’ve had access to China more than a year ago to help combat this virus. As we’ve written about many times, that didn’t happen because China slammed everything shut. No one allowed in, no one allowed out. 

For many of us, that sent up huge red flags. If there is nothing to hide, and everything to gain by having a plethora of world scientists coming in and helping to defeat this virus, why slam shut and lock the door? 

Jeffrey Sachs has never asked that question and it is likely he never will. Then again, as I mentioned above, this is a guy who has been a long-time fan of China’s, so not only is his objectivity out the window, any critical thinking regarding China’s virus response is nil.

Covid Commission chair Jeffrey Sachs touts himself as an “expert” on the economy who believes the dollar should lose its importance and his ideas of fighting the war on poverty mean bankrupting the world. 

Sachs is a fan of ad hominem attacks and subtly yet overtly calling people racist. He did so several years ago against Victor Davis Hanson in response to VDH’s commentaries criticizing Obama’s wrong-headed stances on illegal immigration and terrorism. Hanson rightly took him to the woodshed in response. 

Jeffrey Sachs is and never will be an objective person when dealing with China in any capacity. He has exhibited zero curiosity regarding China’s response to the virus. Therefore any conclusions that he as Covid commission chair or the commission itself arrives at regarding China, the labs, and the Covid virus must be greeted with massive amounts of skepticism.
