Confederate Flag at South Carolina Capital to be Removed

150619120445-sc-statehouse-confederate-flag-02-large-169Early on Thursday morning the South Carolina House approved taking down the Confederate flag from Capital grounds. The decision was made after more than 13 hours of intense debates.

The House easily approved the Senate bill 94-20, and it will now go to Governor Nikki Haley, who has expressed her support of the move.

“Today, as the Senate did before them, the House of Representatives has served the state of South Carolina and her people with great dignity,” Haley said in a statement early Thursday. “I’m grateful for their service and their compassion. It is a new day in South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of, a day that truly brings us all together as we continue to heal, as one people and one state.”

This massive debate, of course, is following the shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church by racist Dylann Roof mere weeks ago. Roof entered the church and killed blacks, accusing the African American populace of raping white women and taking over the country. At some point in the time before he took the lives of nine innocent people, he had taken photos with the Confederate flag, which ignited this massive debate and the demands to remove it from every store, tv show, and location.

This debate began one day after the U.S. House voted to ban the display of Confederate flags at historic federal cemeteries in the Deep South.

While I don’t believe that the Confederate flag belongs at the South Carolina Capital grounds, I think it is a tad insulting to the Americans who died in the Civil War not to display it in some fashion at a cemetery where they are buried. I know, I know, they were technically traitors, and we don’t display the enemy flag elsewhere, but these were not foreign invaders. They were Americans, and the cause they died for should be reflected in their military cemetery in some way.

I’m sick of the political correctness police acting as if we should erase all ugliness from our past. These scars are what help us form a more perfect Union, and they allow us to learn from the mistakes of our ancestors.

The depravity and hatred that forces a young man to brutally murder nine innocent people isn’t from a symbol. It is caused by years of racist indoctrination and stems from an evil heart. Symbols, flags, and guns don’t make people kill each other. Stop removing personal responsibility from these monsters. Not only does it make their crime less heinous, it dishonors the innocent people that they killed.

More and more I keep wondering if this massacre was staged by the Left to finally get rid of the Confederate flag. They had been crusading long for this and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this was the case. Leftists have proven throughout history that life is cheap to them so killing 9 innocent people and turning them into martyrs to push their crusade would certainly be within keeping of Leftist tactics and history.

But of course they did…next up: Every monument and museum dedicated to remembering the Civil War.

At the rate this thing is going nobody will know there ever was a Civil War. All traces will have been eliminated. The Leftist writing of history will then be rather interesting.

Through this entire incident, I’ve been unable to understand the mindset that wants to erase history. I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, a city rich in Civil War history and southern culture and I never met a single person who wanted to reenact slavery or felt the flag was a symbol of white supremacy. If blacks feel oppressed by the Stars and Bars, it is an oppression they’re brought upon themselves through ignorance and racial animus. If this censoring of history is successful then every fabricated micro-aggression will be used to sterilize our culture and reinforce the PC notion that entitlement groups are incapable of dealing with reality and need special treatment – which of course contradicts our founding principle of “All men are created equal”.

Well put. These days blacks feel oppressed by just about everything (now the Stars and Stripes are increasingly “oppressive” to them) thanks to their insane leadership directed by white Leftists. It’s no wonder why “Negro fatigue” is starting to spread-when someone squawks about every single thing people get tired of it and finally tune out. I know I’m done listening to their increasingly ridiculous complaints- I find them to be annoying and somewhat amusing at times but rarely credible.

      Bingo, Xavier.

The flag flew next to a MEMORIAL on state house grounds. It isn’t even taller than the memorial itself. So it technically flew over nothing. Now it will be moved to a museum – a state funded museum. State money goes to keep those doors open. So the place where it will sit indoors is funded by taxpayers and that is ok, but the place where it sat funded by tax payers outdoors was unacceptable. What is an outdoor memorial but a type of museum? This is so ridiculous.

Let me tell you what’s really going on. Nikki Haley, who is known to have ice water running through her veins, did not suddenly have a soft spot for supposed symbols of hate. There is a national election coming up and if you haven’t heard, she has ambitions far beyond the South Carolina governor’s mansion. I believe one or both of these things happened: Republican leaders, and/or actual Republican candidates themselves told her not to let this crisis go to waste, and she was promised a VP spot on the presidential ticket. The second thing they told her was that by taking this action she would help her party garner the black vote, which is clearly a troublesome area for Republicans.

Presidential candidates are always getting asked the question about the flag when they come to South Carolina, but now, Nikki fixed it so they are all off the hook. I can’t say that this move shows she has any morals (before this Democrats had nothing good to say about that aspect of her personality) but we can certainly say now, if nothing else, she proved she’s a team player.
