CNN Analyst: Women Can’t Carry Guns Because, “Skirts and Dresses”

Liberals love CNN. Especially when men commentators sound off on “real, practical solutions” on women and weapons. Or not. Meet CNN senior law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes:

I would say let’s rewind this and play this back but the words were as plain as day:

“A lot of these schools—Sandy Hook had an all-female faculty, from principal to teachers. For a woman, where are you going to hide that gun during the day? You can’t put it in your desk drawer; somebody might steal it, and you can’t get to it. You’re not going to have it in a safe in the principal’s office; you can’t get to it. If you wear a dress, if you wear a skirt, are you going to have to wear a jacket everyday with a belt and a holster, the way a detective on duty would do? It’s not a real practical solution for a variety of reasons.”

Because equality or something.

Clearly, he’s never heard of concealed carry purses, t-shirts, a corset carry, a thigh holster or yes, even a bra carry?

Fuentes illustrates just out-of-touch he is with the reality of teachers today. Most female (and male) teachers are on their feet a good part of the day and those in the elementary grades spend a good amount of their time supervising (and sometimes chasing after) young children. I’m not sure what fantasy world he lives in to think most female teachers wear skirts or dresses and still write on chalk boards. Most of my teacher friends are content to wear a favorite pair of jeans or yoga pants these days.

A gun is not practical, he says. Because someone might steal it. You cannot put it in a desk drawer with the crayons, the scissors, glue and Skittles you give to the little ones for making good choices. And, who knows? Some hardcore criminal can come into your classroom and lift said weapon when you exit your classroom to walk the kids to recess because clearly, you are not smart enough to lock the thing up when you are not around your weapon. I mean, you do wear a skirt and are probably donned in your Christian Louboutin stilettos, too. You couldn’t possibly be responsible for a gun! You may break a nail when you try to fire the thing!

Silly, silly women educators…to think you would put your gun in the principal’s office. You’re not going to lock your weapons up in your there because what kind of sense would that make?! That would defy all logic of having a weapon on hand in the first place should some lunatic decide to shoot up your school. I mean, it’s just not practical.

And jackets, belts and holsters? Nope. They’re just not practical enough! But what is practical, anyway? Signs outside our schools that read “Gun Free Zone, No Weapons Allowed” because every one appreciates a good sign and every one plays by the rules and those signs…boy are they a scary deterrent to a criminal! I mean, they’ll just walk away and open fire somewhere else, right? And should said criminal decide to barge into a classroom in the midst of a math lesson, we can rely on our most of our awesome and brave law enforcement officers and pray to God we don’t get stuck with the yutz who is running out the clock until retirement.

How silly is it to think that skirt-wearing female teachers would even want to possess a weapon in their classroom? It’s just not practical. And heck, by the time these kids get to high school, you wouldn’t want to offend them by possessing a firearm. They just might walk out on you. Tell me again how conservative men and women are living in the dark ages and oppressed by old-school thought? Mansplain away, Fuentes.

Kathy Jackson of Cornered Cat also took exception to this comment.

“This would pretty well be the definition of ‘mansplaining’ — not a word that I’m generally a fan of, but it fits. Fuentes, who is not a woman, felt it necessary to explain on national television that women cannot discreetly carry a gun.”

She proceeds to give a very nice explanation of just how wrong he is. http://www.corneredcat.com/hilarious-quote-and-an-answer/

A very nice job of “womansplaining” right back. 🙂
And, I agree with the commenter there that women actually have a much EASIER job of concealing firearms than we men do – at least in business and semi-formal occasions.

I *have* to comment on that picture. Hoo boy, BIG NO NO!
She needs to get her booger hook off the bang switch until that weapon is pointed toward her target! She’s gonna blow a hole in her compact drawing like that! (She should also be pulling the weapon grip back toward her so the muzzle is already moving toward her target as it clears leather.)

Actually they make an inner thigh holster for gals. Google.
