The CDC voted unanimously to recommend the Covid vaccine be added to the child immunization schedule.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine advisory committee has recommended that the COVID-19 vaccine be added to the childhood immunization schedule, a list that many states use as a guideline when crafting vaccination requirements for schools and day care.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted unanimously Thursday to include the COVID-19 vaccine on the 2022 Child & Adolescent Immunization Schedule, which is seen as a recommendation for parents and health providers on when certain vaccines should be administered. The schedule does not dictate what vaccinations are required for school entry, as only states can decide that, but it is likely to prompt some to add the COVID vaccine to their list.

Keep in mind, this is ONLY a recommendation per the CDC, that means that supposedly states will look into the data before deciding to add the vaccine to the child immunization schedule. Of course, for many states, the immunizations are either mandatory or as here in CO, parents can opt out for faith/personal reasons for their child. 

The problem with this unanimous vote is this; multiple countries from Australia to Sweden to Germany to the UK and more have decided to NOT require the vaccines for kids from birth to 18. Those countries reviewed data and realized that the kids are not at risk for Covid as compared to the risks to children regarding measles, mumps, etc. 

Denmark is limiting vaccination to kids and young people.

So I’d like to know what data the CDC has that says that kids are at the same risk for Covid as they are for measles? I have been looking and can’t seem to find it.

Now, the committee is going to add three mRNA vaccines to the schedule. 

Needless to say, many people are concerned. Particularly given how anything the CDC has said these last two years has been taken as gospel and mandatory by state and local public health agencies. Whether any of the folks within those agencies like it or not, there’s a healthy and understandable mistrust of the “experts” these days, and they brought it upon themselves.

Again, what data is available that gives credence to kids needing three mRNA vaccines over the course of their vaccine schedule? It really seems anyone within the CDC doesn’t want to provide that information.

Multiple states, led by Republican governors, have now indicated they won’t follow the new CDC guidance. Except the CDC is trying to say that they can’t mandate the vaccines in the schools. 

There’s another problem I have with all of this. It is now a well-known fact that the CDC and teachers unions discussed masks, school closings/openings and more with each other. And when the CDC finally said it was ok to open the schools and/or ditch the masks, the politicized medical associations pushed back and advocated for continued masking and school closures. So it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if those organizations led the charge to mandate the vaccines before a child can step foot on a school campus. 

Science? Data? Forget about it! Just do as we tell you! 

Parents get to have a say in their child’s life and well-being? According to our betters, they do not. In fact, they need to step aside and let the CDC tell us what is right and proper and symbolic! 

“Symbolism??” Now that is quite an interesting word to use. Particularly when even that organization had to admit that kids were the lowest common denominator of risk, UNLESS they had other health risk factors present!

“States have the authority to enact state laws requiring vaccination, not the CDC,” said Wendy Mariner, a professor emerita of health law, ethics and human rights at Boston University. “ACIP has no authority to make law.”

However, we’ve ALL learned something these last 2 1/2 years. Whether it’s legal or not, when the public health agencies spoke and mandated masks, schools closures, destroyed small businesses, and shoved vaccines down our throats, they were doing so oftentimes illegally. So do NOT tell me that public health agencies drunk with their own power might try to mandate the Covid vaccine be added to the child immunization schedule!

That is playing out across the U.S. right now. People not only FEEL that the state and local agencies will mandate Covid for immunizations, but believe it WILL happen because prior actions has shown that’s the path public agencies will take. 

So no, the concerns people have about this new vote that lacks data to back it up are entirely valid. One last item to note, the time for the feds to continue purchasing vaccines from Pfizer and others is about to expire. So, what is Pfizer doing? Increasing the prices by 400%.

According to a report from Reuters, Pfizer President Angela Lukin announced on Thursday that the pharmaceutical giant will charge between $110 and $130 per dose, although the treatment will be available at no cost to Americans with private or government insurance. “We are confident that the U.S. price point of the COVID-19 vaccine reflects its overall cost effectiveness and ensures the price will not be a barrier for access for patients,” she remarked.

Child immunizations will likely be mandates across multiple states. But for those parents dealing with inflation shrinking their bank account, don’t worry! $130 per dose of the Covid vaccine so your child or children can attend school is no biggie! Suck it up buttercup and get your child jabbed.
