Two Ronald McDonald Houses in Canada have decided to evict anyone who isn’t vaccinated. That includes any child battling a severe disease. That includes a four year old battling acute leukemia.

“Beginning Jan. 17, 2022, everyone five years and older who are working, staying or visiting our facilities, both the House at 4567 Heather St. Vancouver and at the Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital, must show proof of full vaccination (two doses),” said a letter from Ronald McDonald House to the Furgasons and other guests.

Stop and think about that for a very long minute. These families are dealing with their children battling major health issues. I’m not talking pneumonia. I’m not talking the common cold. I’m talking Leukemia or other types of cancer. Yet, two Ronald McDonald houses have decided that anyone who isn’t vaccinated, must leave or somehow get at least one shot within the next 3 weeks. 

How does this make any sense? The families lives are revolving around their child’s diagnosis. Do you understand what that means? Their world is very narrow. It is the hospital, a quick stop at a grocery story, and the Ronald McDonald House where they are staying. So narrow that they’ve essentially been isolating and quarantining the entire time. 

Family members still have to work and provide a living for their families while going through the hell of hoping their child will survive the surgeries or chemo they have to go through for their particular condition. But again, everyone has essentially been quarantined, but suddenly those two Ronald McDonald Houses are demanding vaccines or they’ll be told to leave. 

Do they know something we don’t and are 100% positive that the vaccine won’t be counter to the chemo drugs? Would YOU be willing to take that chance? Something to think about. 

But here’s the larger picture for this. The INHUMANITY of what the Covid response has wrought. That four year old little boy is too young to get the vaccination. So HE can stay, but his parents who don’t have the appropriate vaccines yet, must leave. 

The Ronald McDonald House in Canada will evict all tenants, adults and children over the age of five, who are not vaccinated by the end of January.

Andrew Furgason makes several valid points here. One specifically is that many who are vaccinated are still getting Covid. Given the sheer number of high profile people across the U.S. who’ve been vaccinated and boosted, yet came down with Covid, I’d say its a valid concern when you are caring for your child who is battling leukemia! 

The Ronald McDonald House says they are doing this to protect the vulnerable population they serve. How is it protecting immune compromised kids by making them pack up and move to a new location (one that may be significantly further away from the hospital) in the middle of treatments?

“We continue to restrict access to the House and are practicing COVID-19 safety protocols including: screening, temperature checks, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning protocols and mandatory mask wearing in all common spaces,” the message banner on the website’s front page reads. “These measures in addition to an abundance of sanitizer and kindness will help us ensure the safety of everyone at the House.”

Kindness?? 

Their statement totally contradicts itself. The Ronald McDonald Houses have been doing backflips it seems to follow all the safety protocols. Presumably with great success or we would’ve seen news of outbreaks from those places. But now it’s an act of KINDNESS to kick families out? 

Then again, the board members may be practicing what Trudeau has been preaching these last months. Get vaxxed and boosted so you too can participate in society! 

Then again, Trudeau is also on record for OTHERING those who are reluctant to get vaccinated. 

In a September 17 interview on the Quebec talk show La semaine des 4 Julie, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau labeled those opposed to vaccination “misogynists” and “racists.” Then, he exclaimed that Canada needed to make a choice: “Do we tolerate these people?”

So, the Ronald McDonald House board is following his lead? 

Rather than listen to the valid concerns of parents regarding their highly immune compromised children who are going through medical hell right now, the Ronald McDonald House is literally saying Covid vaccines or no care for you. 

Andrew Furgason says it best. 

“No matter what people’s beliefs are, everyone donates to this place because everyone wants to save dying kids,” he said. “If there was anything left to unite our country, this would have been it. And still, they find a way to segregate us and divide us even more.”

“I’m broken inside for our country just how fast this has accelerated.”

This is where we are. When an entity and governing body chooses Covid fear over care and compassion for the most vulnerable and weak among us, we are diminished. The Ronald McDonald Houses in Vancouver and British Columbia certainly do believe in supporting families and their loved ones battling cancer, UNLESS it involves Covid, then that care and support is out the door. 

What have we become?
