Biden White House Contemplates Pardons For All – Without Biden

YOU get a pardon! And YOU get a pardon! EVERYONE GETS A PARDON!!!

Uh, what kind of drugs are they currently doing in the lame duck Biden White House? Did someone magically find more cocaine somewhere? Because heavy drinking or drug abuse seem to be likely answers for what POLITICO is now reporting.

Biden’s aides are deeply concerned about a range of current and former officials who could find themselves facing inquiries and even indictments, a sense of alarm which has only accelerated since Trump last weekend announced the appointment of Kash Patel to lead the FBI. Patel has publicly vowed to pursue Trump’s critics.

The White House officials, however, are carefully weighing the extraordinary step of handing out blanket pardons to those who’ve committed no crimes, both because it could suggest impropriety, only fueling Trump’s criticisms, and because those offered preemptive pardons may reject them.

The deliberations touch on pardoning those currently in office, elected and appointed, as well as former officials who’ve angered Trump and his loyalists.

Those who could face exposure include such members of Congress’ Jan. 6 Committee as Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming. Trump has previously said Cheney “should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Also mentioned by Biden’s aides for a pardon is Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who became a lightning rod for criticism from the right during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The West Wing deliberations have been organized by White House counsel Ed Siskel but include a range of other aides, including chief of staff Jeff Zients. The president himself, who was intensely focused on his son’s pardon, has not been brought into the broader pardon discussions yet, according to people familiar with the deliberations.

Uhhh, last I checked, the power to pardon belongs SOLELY to the president of the United States.

Speaking of which, let’s see how old Joe is handling his last few weeks in office!

Oh boy. Look, we all know why Biden took this last trip to Africa, and it was to avoid the press after pardoning Hunter. But at least give Grandpa a 5 Hour Energy shot or something, for crying out loud. Could he at least FAKE being awake and presidential on this final overseas trip?

But back to the other pardons at hand. Why on earth would blanket pardons be needed for Liz Cheney or Adam Schiff? Why are the Biden aides suddenly wondering how best to cover the asses of their allies once the Big Guy leaves the White House?

Well, Liz Cheney could be in a whole world of legal hurt from her time on the January 6th Committee, thanks to her little chats behind the lawyer’s back with Cassidy Hutchison. Is that enought to justify a blanket pardon? Adam Schiff is a lying scumbag, but a blanket pardon? And Anthony Fauci is probably guilty of lying to Congress, and Senator Rand Paul referred him to the DOJ back in 2021 (which went nowhere, because the Justice Department had no interest in investigating Fauci). But with new management at the DOJ, and the COVID report from the House Select Subcommittee in hand, there could be a potential prosecution for Anthony Fauci. Pardoning him is an abhorrent idea.

While the idea of handing out pardons like Halloween candy should horrify those who claim they wish to “preserve norms,” at least one Democrat is telling the Biden White House “damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!”

Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.) released a statement on Wednesday urging President Biden to issue blanket pardons to individuals who may be targeted under President-elect Trump’s FBI Director appointee Kash Patel.

“By choosing Kash Patel as his FBI Director, Trump has made it clear that he is more focused on settling personal scores than on protecting the American people or upholding the rule of law,” Boyle wrote, adding that this was “no hypothetical threat.”

He noted that law enforcement officers, military personnel and others are at risk of extreme legal battles.

“These patriots shouldn’t have to live in fear of political retribution for doing what’s right,” Boyle stated. “That’s why I’m urging President Biden to issue a blanket pardon for anyone unjustly targeted by this vindictive scheme.”

“If we’re serious about stopping Trump’s authoritarian ambitions, we need to act decisively and use every tool at our disposal,” the Pennsylvania representative wrote. “Norms and traditions alone won’t stop him—Trump has shown time and again that he’s willing to ignore them to consolidate power and punish his opponents.”

“The time for cautious restraint is over,” the lawmaker concluded. “We must act with urgency to push back against these threats and prevent Trump from abusing his power.”

So, this is a “we must break the glass to keep Trump from breaking the glass” moment, is it? The same Donald Trump that had Hillary Clinton prosecuted for BleachBit-ing her emails – oh wait. He didn’t do that, did he? It was the Biden Department of Justice that decided that it was going to practice lawfare on a scale not before seen, with the sole purpose of keeping Donald Trump from being president again. Where did that get them? It got them a temporary high when they got indictments, a civil conviction that could very well be tossed out in New York, Trump’s lawyers asking for the hush money case to be dismissed (while citing the Hunter Biden pardon!), and Fani Willis in Georgia being ordered to turn over any communication she had with Jack Smith or the January 6th committee by next week. We shall see if she follows through with that.

The discussion of blanket pardons for people who haven’t even been formally charged with crimes is a huge “tell” by the Biden White House. They are projecting their own fear and guilt with these talks – without Joe Biden’s input, even! – because they know that they would be using every tool of lawfare at their disposal if any president could do to them what they have done on behalf of Joe Biden and his administration. Are we now going to be in a war of attrition between administrations, with wholesale pardons being handed out at the end of each administration to prevent lawfare? Is this going to be the “new normal,” because Biden broke the norms? If this goes forward, there is no way back. The social compact between the parties will be irretrivably shattered, with both sides assuming the other will be rotten lawfare using bastards, so whoever is in charge will go ahead and be a bastard first.

I guess we wait and see if Biden stays awake long enough to sign pardons for all before January 20th.

CYA all they want but let’s still investigate and get the truth out to show us just how slimy and corrupt they all are.

Word choice matters in telling a story:
Patel has publicly vowed to pursue Trump’s critics.
No, actually. He has vowed to pursue those who undermined his Presidential authority last administration and those who committed lawfare against Trump. That’s a lot different than “critics.” This is the stuff we need to defeat.

“Intensely focused.” Ha! Tempted to post the scene from Blazing Saddles where the governor is trying to play paddle-ball.

protecting the American people or upholding the rule of law
Ha! As if that’s what any of them have been doing the last 4 years. Also, “You keep using those words. I don’t think those words mean what you think they mean.”

“These patriots shouldn’t have to live in fear of political retribution for doing what’s right,”
That is not why they should live in fear. But they should live in fear.

He didn’t do that, did he?
And that was one of his very first fails as a President. Doesn’t look like he plans to make that mistake again. At least, I hope not.

“Doing what’s right”. And just what was done right? As dems always seem to say, “you have nothing to fear if you haven’t violated any laws”. The panic that I see building tells me they have a hell of a lot to fear.
