Aurora Mayor And DHS Acknowledge Venezuelan Gang Presence

Perhaps Colorado Governor Jared Polis should go actually take a look at the city of Aurora, and see what the Department of Homeland Security is seeing. Aurora, a suburb of Denver, has a Venezuelan gang problem, and its residents are rightfully worried.

This all began with local reporting that there were armed gang members who were breaking into apartments in Aurora last Wednesday.

The video shows the group entering an apartment building with several weapons and then making their way through a door. The scenario took place at The Edge at Lowry apartments, which became a reported crime hotspot in that city.

In the video, men can be seen walking up a stairwell carrying weapons. They can be heard speaking Spanish.

All of the people appear to be carrying rifles and handguns, except for one of the men who can be seen talking on a cell phone. They all then gather around a door and go in.

Another video clip shows what appears to be two men forcing a door open. But what or who they were searching for is not clear.

The video was shot in the building where Cindy and Edward Romero lived until Wednesday. FOX31 caught up with them as they loaded up their stuff and moved out.

“It’s been a nightmare and I can’t wait to get out of here,” former resident Cindy Romero said.

FOX31 showed Aurora City Councilmember Danielle Jurinsky the video, who helped the couple move out Wednesday and find a new place to live.

“The city nonprofits have lined up to help the migrants that have come here but nobody is helping the Americans that are trapped in these apartment complexes,” Jurinsky said.

Jurinsky said the complex had been overrun by a Venezuelan gang.

“This isn’t just Americans. Other Venezuelans are being extorted by this gang,” Jurinsky said.

Well, Governor Polis’s office blew off the councilwoman’s concerns, calling it a “feature” of her “imagination” – even with the video and the testimony from those trying to move out of the apartment complex.

Polis’ press office offered the snarky statement Wednesday night in response to Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky — who told The Post the gang’s takeovers are tied to his policies.

“The Governor has already let the Mayor know that the State is ready to support the local police department with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” Shelby Wieman, a spokesperson for the Democratic governor, told The Post.

“But, according to police intelligence this purported invasion is largely a feature of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

However, even the mayor of Aurora, Mike Coffman, confirmed that this was organized gang activity. Not that the evidence mattered to the governor’s spokesperson.

Denver — a sanctuary city that is just west of Aurora — has received more migrants per capita than any city in the country, most of them from Venezuela. More than 40,000 migrants have arrived since December 2022.

The Post asked Polis’ office if he intends to backtrack its statement given the piles of evidence of Tren de Aragua’s takeover, to which Wieman said the governor “really hopes that the city council members in charge stop trashing their own city when they are supposed to keep it safe.

“Over the last month, Governor Polis has been in regular contact with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Police Department and has offered all state assistance to support their efforts if requested,” she said, adding that they expect violent crime to continue to decrease.

And just what is this gang?

For years, (Tren de Aragua), which hails from Venezuela’s Aragua region, has been sending its members across the US-Mexico border. It’s also expanded recruitment within the US among migrant communities, mainly in New York, Denver and Chicago.

The gang was recently designated as a transnational criminal organization by the Biden administration.

OH WELL THEN NO BIG DEAL, RIGHT, GOVERNOR POLIS?

The full post reads:

BREAKING: Aurora, Colorado mayor suggests the federal government may have funded sending Venezuelan gangs to Aurora, Colorado.

Mayor Mike Coffman said *multiple* apartment buildings have been taken over by the armed gangs.

Coffman said the gangs are now collecting rents after they “pushed out” the property management.

“We are a victim of a failed policy at the Southern Border.”

Holy sh*t.

How does one watch the above video and not realize that something has gone very, very wrong with our immigration policies? So much for addressing those “root causes” of migration, right, border czar Kamala Harris?

On Friday, Mayor Mike Coffman posted on Facebook that he is seeking an emergency court order help Aurora deal with the situation.

Aurora to Seek Emergency Court Order to Clear Apartments

The Aurora City Attorney’s Office is preparing court documents to request an emergency court order to clear the apartment buildings where Venezuelan gang activity has been occurring by declaring the properties a “Criminal Nuisance.”

This will require a municipal judge to issue the order with the goal of getting these properties back under the control of the property owners.

In the meantime, the law enforcement task force set up to disrupt and arrest Venezuelan gang members in these buildings will continue its operations.

The problems associated with Venezuelan gang activity has been isolated to properties that are all under the same out-of-state ownership whose problems with code violations and criminal activity preceded the migrant crisis.

I strongly believe that the best course of action is to shut these building down and make sure that this never happens again.

You know who is also confirming that this is Venezuelan gang activity now? The Department of Homeland Security.

The people seen on video carrying guns and entering apartments at an Aurora complex are members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, Department of Homeland Security sources confirmed to NewsNation.

Funny, both Governor Polis’s personal X account and his official one are, as of this posting, strangely silent regarding this confirmation from DHS. You know who is not silent? Donald Trump.

The full post reads:

JUST IN: Donald Trump promises to deport the Venezuelan gang members who took over apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado.

“We’re going to get them the hell out of here.”

Aurora officials have been investigating a Venezuelan gang, the Tren de Aragua gang, who is accused of taking over apartment complexes in Aurora.

The gang is allegedly engaging in human smuggling, violence, money laundering, and illicit drug trafficking throughout the U.S., including at the apartment complex on Nome Street in Aurora.

The violent gang is accused of taking the properties from the property managers and is even charging rent according to reports.

While Trump drawing attention to this issue is important, that won’t solve the problem right now, or protect the people being terrorized by these gang members in Aurora. This is the end result of proclaiming that migrants were welcome in Denver, and now the city of Aurora has a gang problem through osmosis. Is Governor Polis going to step in NOW to offer help in restoring order to these apartment buildings, and aid the mayor in getting the emergency court order? Will he help move the people who have been terrorized by Tren de Aragua? Or will he just let his office say that this is all someone’s wild imagination running away with them again? My guess is that he says nothing – except perhaps to complain about Donald Trump noticing the problem.

One of the root causes of migrants coming to the USA is a subset of migrants are violent gang member who cannot earn a living in Venezuela because the people don’t have enough money. These migrants come here because Americans have more money which they can steal or extort. These migrants, by moving to America, can fulfill their lives to the greatest extent possible and become the best, most effective violent gang members.

How intolerant of people who want to deny these migrants a way to simply earn a living. How bigoted, how racist, how selfish.

The best response I’ve seen in Twitchy is the Mayor should have told the Governor that white supremecists had taken over the apartments and were teaching the two-gender heresy. (Alternatively, the gang members refused to bake cakes for same-sex weddings.)

Governor Side-saddle has his eye on national office. He won’t be in any hurry to solve this problem.

  • Edward Lunny says:

Round some of these vermin up , bus them to the governor’s residence ,and tell them to make themselves at home . I’m sure the governor’s wife and children wouldn’t mind. Expose him to what he has perpetrated on his citizens. Also, how is it these illegal aliens have firearms ? It’s against the law for them to be in possession of any firearms. Obviously “gun control” is a resounding success. Start shooting these vermin, slaughter them. Since the government refuses to do it’s job, citizens have to do it for themselves.
This didn’t start yesterday, this has been going on for weeks, months. Where has the Aurora government and law enforcement been ? What have they been doing all of this time ? Why has this been allowed to continue. What a bunch of air wasting, incompetent boob’s. Good grief.

Declare these people to be outside the protection of the law, offer bounties on their heads and watch the problem solve itself.

  • Scott says:

can’t seem to post on this thread

  • Scott says:

ok, apparently it didn’t like my comment? maybe used the wrong trigger words? kept saying “internal server error”

    • Cameron says:

It happens once in a while.

Now the big question: What the hell are the citizens (the legal ones) going to do about this? You aren’t going to stop this problem by asking nicely and buying “Hate Has No Home Here” signs on your lawn.

      • Scott says:

They are an organized illegal invasion with criminal intent. Use the military to solve the problem. This is NOT a police issue.
