A Look At New York’s ‘Adams Tent City’ Migrant Shelter

The new NYC migrant center, labeled the ‘Adams Tent City’ by Google Maps is quite something.

A place called “Adams Tent City” was spotted on Google Maps on Tuesday at the location of New York City’s new immigrant welcome center, which was created to deal with the influx of people the city is facing following Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) choice to bus illegal immigrants to Democratic strongholds.

The location, on Randall’s Island, recently began putting up tent-like structures to house up to 500 people seeking asylum, according to a report. Next to the city’s Icahn Stadium, amenities such as air conditioning and laundry units will be available.

It isn’t that they are solely Democrat strongholds, it is that these cities have declared themselves sanctuary cities. Therefore anyone entering this country legally or illegally should be welcomed with open arms there…right? Ehhh, not so much.

It seems that the new ‘Adams Tent City’ as well as Eric Adams himself aren’t prepared to handle welcoming the illegal migrants with open arms.

As the federal government continues to fly migrants from the border into the “sanctuary city” of New York and Texas Governor Greg Abbott sends busloads every week, “it’s flooded our system,” says City Hall staffer Chris Baugh, who was recorded on hidden camera by undercover journalism outfit Project Veritas.

“I think what Abbott has done has proven effective … We have more people in social services then we have ever had potentially in history.“

Ultimately [the city is] struggling to comply with our own law, the ‘right to shelter’ law.”

Abbott’s determination to keep sending migrants to New York has put Adams in a “perilous” political situation and has catapulted the city toward a $10 billion deficit by 2026, now that “free” federal COVID Money has dried up, Baugh says, in a recording obtained exclusively by The Post

It’s been a well known fact that social workers and social services in New York City have been overwhelmed for decades. It wouldn’t have surprised me one bit if most of those within social services wanted to give both deBlasio and Adams massive GIBBS slaps upside the head for declaring NYC a sanctuary city without considering all the ramifications involved.

Well, now, chickens are coming home to roost. A very nice tent city has been built in a parking lot.

With lots of amenities that most of the shelters in NYC don’t have or can provide.

When was the last time a NYC shelter for the homeless could provide Xbox’s and popcorn machines? I’d say …south of never. Furthermore, the city is paying good money to have meals prepared for these MEN, not women or children, that are part of their culture. That’s pretty expensive, no?

Here’s the thing, the tent city isn’t enough even if they ramp up to 1,000 men in the shelter. The women and children presumably need a place to go as well. Thus, a swanky hotel in Times Square fits the bill!

New York’s latest migrant shelter will take the shape of midtown Manhattan hotel, Row NYC. The decision was announced on Wednesday by Mayor Eric Adams.

Row NYC, a swanky four-star hotel in Times Square is said to initially home 200 migrant families. The hotel is being turned into the city’s latest “humanitarian relief center” as the influx of asylum seekers increases.

One has to wonder what the reimbursement is for the hotel is as the rooms are quite upscale and the sister hotels in the city (I looked) have standard rooms ranging from $350-$700 per night. If Row NYC charges around $400 per night, does the contract reimburse the business the same, or more? Especially since, looking at the hotel website, various amenities such as the fitness center and at least one restaurant are closed indefinitely. Thus the hotel is losing a LOT of business by agreeing to this move. Quite honestly, I don’t think it will take long for them to really regret this move given how unprepared the city is for this.

Look, I’m not unsympathetic to people making their way here to the United States. However, there IS a process. The Democrat-led sanctuary cities wanted to throw that process out the window and let the border towns and everyone else handle it. People, including those in Texas, have finally had enough.

If you declare you are a sanctuary city, then you damned well need to be prepared to handle the consequences.
