Trump’s Tweets Just Might Be Guilty Pleasures [VIDEO]

On the way to church this morning, the 70’s song “Kung Fu Fighting” began playing on the radio. My husband told me that he liked the song.

I was horrified. “What? This song stinks!”

“Yeah, but it’s a guilty pleasure. I’ve downloaded a lot of guilty pleasures.”

Well, me too. I have to sheepishly admit to downloading “Tubthumping.” And worse yet, I sing along with it. Sometimes.

It makes me wonder if all those awful Trump tweets are guilty pleasures for many conservatives, too.

In case you missed it, here’s the most recent outlandish tweet:

The media, of course, are fuming over this. Brian Stelter at CNN issued this statement:

CNN’s Ana Navarro seethed that Trump was inciting violence:

Trump national security advisor Tom Bossert seemed a bit flummoxed at first, but then went into a full-blown defense of Trump, saying he was “proud” of Trump’s wild tweets:

They’re both wrong. Despite Navarro’s hand-wringing over the possibility of getting killed, the odds are she’ll long outlive Trump. As for Bossert, there is really nothing noble or redeeming about that tweet. Moreover, it’s just plain juvenile and beneath the dignity of the office.

With that being said, however, I must admit there was a small — very small — sense of amusement in watching Trump fake-wrestle CNN. Finally, the media who fawned over Obama and raked the very decent George W. Bush over the coals is getting some comeuppance. And maybe, just maybe, some in the media are paying heed.

Take, for instance, writer McKay Coppins at the left-leaning The Atlantic. In an article published Sunday morning entitled, “How the Left Lost Its Mind,” Coppins starts with this:

Last month, Democratic Senator Ed Markey delivered what seemed like an explosive bit of news during an interview with CNN: A grand jury had been impaneled in New York, he said, to investigate the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia.

The only problem: It wasn’t true.

And so Coppins continues, excoriating the Left media “ecosystem,” as he called it, for latching onto crackpot conspiracy theorists and sketchy anonymous sources to damage the Trump presidency.

So it’s no wonder that so many conservatives — aside from the dyed-in-the-wool Trump supporters — may hesitantly see Trump’s tweets as guilty pleasures, those just desserts the media have coming.

As for those of us who really wish Trump would cancel that damned Twitter account? Well, we need to realize it’s not gonna happen. This is the President. This is how he operates. I’ll just look past the tweets and noise to applaud him for appointing Justice Gorsuch, as well as being a strong supporter of the military and a resolute foe of Islamic radicals. And I’ll also hope that Obamacare  will go the way of the dodo, and that the economy will go great guns once again.

In the words of Clemenza in The Godfather: “Leave the gun. Take the cannolis.”

Meanwhile, I’ll just limit my guilty pleasures to singing along with “Tubthumping.”

Obviously Trump is thin skinned and impulsive. His aggressive style is a welcome change when it comes to the msm. I just wish he would stop the silly juvenile attacks. There are plenty of opportunities to push back against media bias, just do it based on facts.
