Shannon Johnson and Denise Peraza worked as health inspectors for the San Bernardino County Public Health Department. Wednesday they were at the meeting shot up by a pair of terrorists spreading hate as ISIS taught them. However their victims showed the opposite of the evil teachings of ISIS/Daesh. Denise Peraza survived because Mr. Johnson shielded her with his life. Denise Peraza told Fox News the following:
A man who shielded a coworker as a final act before he died in Wednesday’s terror attack in San Bernardino is being hailed as a hero.
Here is a photo of Shannon Johnson.
He is the kind of hero we can all hope to be in the worst situation. He did not panic but did what he could to save a life even though he died doing so.
27-year-old Denise Peraza said Shannon Johnson, 45, wrapped his arm around his younger coworker, said “I got you,” and saved her life.
I got you. Simple, concise and full of love for a fellow human being.
Peraza shared the story of her survival and paid tribute to Johnson, whom she called an “amazing” and “selfless” man
Amazing and selfless indeed. His last minutes on earth were spent saving the life of a coworker:
While I cannot recall every single second that played out that morning, I will always remember his left arm wrapped around me, holding me as close as possible next to him behind that chair.
And amidst all the chaos, I’ll always remember him saying these three words, “I got you.”
The LA Times interviewed his fiancee Mandy Pifer:
“He loved the department because he said it was like working in the United Nations,” Pifer said.
For those so inclined to donate, there is a gofundme account for his funeral expenses. He is described as follows:
Shannon was a generous, fun-loving soul, who very much loved his family and friends. Shannon was a protector to all of those he loved. Shannon was friendly and easy to know, making friends everywhere he traveled. He loved his job as a Health Inspector. He also loved his community and his fellow co-workers.
His last words “I Got You” is inspirational and gives hope in a world that sorely needs hope. Rest in Peace Shannon Johnson. You have fought the good fight and finished the race.
He was a direct descendant of the American Revolution and the Confederate Veterans. Well done, Shannon Hilliard Johnson. Rest easy, dear soul.
