#Baltimore Chaos: Cops Stand Down Amid Deadliest Month Ever, Citizens Frightened

Rawlings BlakeBaltimore is in free fall. And it’s just made history, but not in a good way. The city has reportedly seen a dramatic increase in homicides following the riots, and has now surpassed its previous record, with a current total of 38 dead. In one month. People say they are afraid to leave their homes. Thugs are reportedly roaming the streets with weed in one hand, and loaded weapons in the other, unencumbered (how about that gun control, eh?). Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was asked by a reporter to weigh in on the exponential increase in violent crime since the riots, on her watch. Here’s her less than congenial response (the mayor’s remarks start at 13:29, but the entire segment is worth watching):

The homicide victims are not merely thugs shooting each other down in the streets. No, they include women and innocent children:

I guess “Black Lives [Only] Matter” if they’re taken at the hands of law enforcement. And that very law enforcement is increasingly being met with throngs of people threatening them wherever they respond:

BattsPolice Commissioner Anthony Batts said last week his officers “are not holding back” from policing tough neighborhoods, but they are encountering dangerous hostility in the Western District.

“Our officers tell me that when officers pull up, they have 30 to 50 people surrounding them at any time,” Batts said.

Meanwhile, the illustrious Mayor Rawlings-Blake who, you’ll recall, urged law enforcement to allow the rioters “space to destroy,” would like the American taxpayer to shell out upwards of $20 million dollars for her incompetence:

Henry J. Raymond, Baltimore’s finance director, said the city can temporarily cover the costs from its rainy day fund while seeking reimbursement for up to 75 percent from Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“The city remains on strong financial footing,” Raymond said. “Hopefully, with the FEMA reimbursement, it will reduce the financial stress that we’re under. In terms of the city’s overall revenue structure, we’re on firm footing and we’ll move forward.”

That’s not going over too well with some taxpayers:

The moral of the story is this: Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

MLK is rolling in his grave.

I’m sorry to say that I don’t blame the BPD for unofficially standing down. With “leaders” like Mayor Rawlings-Blake and her ideological bobbsey twin, radical activist/slash State Attorney Marilyn Mosby, law enforcement knows that rather than positive support for their efforts, the whole of the department has a target painted on its back by its very own leadership. And that is tragic for the innocent citizens of Baltimore.

And one last thought. To those who request that law enforcement stop enforcing the “petty stuff” and respond only to serious crimes: Who made said “petty laws?” Hint: It wasn’t police. And who’d you vote for in the last election? Need someone to blame? Let me get you a mirror.

Blech. The attorney general’s voice is so very grating. BTW, can you imagine if a white attorney general made comments like that?

    Unbelievable.

    • Jodi Giddings says:

No. That person would be fired. And can you imagine trying to get a fair trial in that city, under this leadership, if you’re anything other than a young black male?

  • Penny says:

    Great article, Jodi!

Along with the higher crime and murder rate, the arrests are down by 56% this month….and who’s to blame for the police being afraid to do their jobs?!? Elections DO have consequences, folks, as do the idiotic actions of racist city officials. All of these Democratic/SocioCommunist Party “inner city plantation” outfits are going to be paying for their blame-game Bovine Scat for a long time. My sympathy goes out to the people of Baltimore, BUT, you folks keep voting in these people, who do not have your best interests in mind, who only care about power, any way they can get it.

    • Jodi says:

Thanks, Penny. And you are absolutely right: Elections DO have consequences. I wonder if the residents comprehend that yet?

  • Chish says:

Mayor 2 last names wants to know if you the taxpayer can “help”.

  • Kim Quade says:

My husband was listening to Baltimore last night on an internet police scanner app — said the city was like the wild wild west. Gun fights, people shot, loads of gun play. One policeman sounded frantic asking for backup, said there was a mob gathering.
    Who needs the movies?
